*Grin* or just unique
The classroom door slid open again.

Ah, here comes our repeater. *sarcastically*
Gasps and whispers spread through the room.
Haru stepped inside, eyes fixed on the floor, shoulders slightly hunched. She gripped the strap of her bag tightly.

*Whispering* She failed? Again?
Student 2
Student 2
*Snickering* Told you.
Haru ignored them and moved toward an empty desk at the back–until the teacher spoke again.

Not there. You'll sit beside Seo Yujin. Maybe she can help you pass this time.
Haneul’s head snapped up. Her chair screeched against the floor as she stood up.

What?! We’ve been desk mates since kindergarten—

And maybe it's time for a change. Unless you’d like another fine? ❄️
Haneul froze, glaring at Haru as the quiet girl sat beside Yujin. Then, still fuming, she stomped over to the now-empty desk and dropped into it with a loud thud.

Make sure you follow her lead and learn from her, Haru. Seo Yujin is our top student. Maybe it'll help you pass this time.
A few snickers spread around the classroom, but haru didn't react. She quietly placed her bag under the desk and took out her notebook.
Yujin, already flipping to a fresh page, ignored the noise and began writing the lesson title in her neat, precise handwriting.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed movement. Haru was... copying her? Same pen grip, same way of underlining the title, even the little flourish at the end of the line.
Yujin glanced sideways. Haru, catching her gaze, gave a small, shy tooth smile—half-apologetic, half-innocent.
Yujin rolled her eyes and turned back to her notes, her voice flat but her thoughts warmer than she’d admit

( She's annoying... but kind of cute. )
The movement passed quietly–until the back door opened again.
The back door creaked open again, drawing every pair of eyes in the room. A tall girl stepped in the room, her posture straight, chin slightly lifted like she owned the air she breathed. Her uniform was perfectly pressed, but her expression carried the kind of disinterest that could cut glass.
The teacher raised an eyebrow, her voice laced with mock politeness.

Ah... our transfer student has arrived. Care to introduce yourself to the class?
The girl let out the faintest sigh, shifting her bag higher on her shoulder. She didn’t looked at the students, only at the teacher.
Beak Seoyeon
Beak Seoyeon
Beak Seoyeon. I'm only here for six months, so don’t bother trying to be friends with me. After that, I'm transferring to Seongmin Academy.
A ripple went through the class—whispers breaking out instantly. Seongmin Academy. The name itself carried weight. Expensive tuition, elite programs, the kind of place you only got into if your family had money or influence.
Seoyeon’s gaze finally swept across the room, not in curiosity but in quiet challenge. When her eyes landed on the only empty desk–right beside Haneul—she started walking toward it.
The teacher stopped her mid-step.

Before you sit, let's make one thing clear. This is a strict school. I don’t care where you came from—your family’s name doesn’t work here. You follow the rules.
Seoyeon only tilted her head slightly, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.
Beak Seoyeon
Beak Seoyeon
Noted.
She took the seat beside Haneul, who was slouched in her chair, doodling in the margin of her notebook and muttering under her breath about the injustice of losing her desk mate to "Miss Perfect."
Before Haneul could ignore her completely, Dahye swiveled in her seat, eyes sparkling with fake friendliness.
Shin Dahye
Shin Dahye
Beak Seoyeon... Did you say Seongmin Academy? is it true you’re transferring there?
Seoyeon didn’t even bother looking up from unpacking her pen case.
Beak Seoyeon
Beak Seoyeon
You heard me the first time.
Dahye’s excited grin faltered slightly, but she quickly masked it, leaning back in her chair as whispers about Seoyeon’s wealthy background filled the room again. Yujin rolled her eyes so hard it was a miracle they didn’t get stuck, deciding Seoyeon was exactly the kind of person she didn’t like.
