HAZEL JONES

“Brother! Be reasonable, who could sell that damn dress for $100. Seriously it’s not even branded.” Hazel started to argue at the local store getting everyone’s attention towards her. Just before anyone could kick her out, Lara pulled her towards the main street.

( Hazel jones, a short girl, with porclein skin with honey brown eyes making her alluring , while her soft lips drawing attention effortlessly. Her silk black hair is neatly secured with a bun. She’s glowing in her floral maxi dress)

“Are you mad, it’s just $100, how can a rich woman like you argue over such a small price?” Lara asked looking concerned and confused.

(Lara, stands tall with her confident long legs, her dark brown hair styled into a bob cut making her heart shaped face bright. She’s in her casual black blazer with sleeves slightly rolled up, and the flared jeans perfectly fitted to her curved waist, making her a perfect woman)

“ Are you hiding something from me?” Lara questioned sensing her best friend acting weird since the past few weeks.

Why would you think that?" Hazel spoke avoiding eye contact with the other.

“You can deceive others but not me, explain now ! Will you ?” Lara spoke, her tone sharp, Eyes narrowing slightly, she waited for Hazel’s response.

“ Well, I made a donation overseas. It’s became little exaggerated, so my card has only monthly allowance now.” Hazel spoke Calmly. Her eyes darted slightly with a hint of nervousness forming on her face.

“Seriously, when will you stop those donations? At least ask your brother to send some money”. Lara said in amazement, as how can hazel be this clueless.

“I already did that, he has frozen my card as a punishment. And just gave a few dollars for meal expenses this month” Hazel replied, her tone was quite disappointing.

“You deserve! I’m on his side. So what are you going to do my poor girl.” Lara teased, pinching hazel’s cheeks.

“Don’t know, I have to find my own job. Like I can’t depend on my parents’money or background right. Who knows what the future holds. So I better earn myself.” Hazel spoke gathering all the confidence she has got.

“ Whatever, just don’t get yourself into trouble” I can’t help you every time. Lara expressed.

~at Lara’s apartment….

Hazel’s on a phone call with her Mom. She’s arguing about something the other person spoke.

“OKAY, FINE ! I’LL TRY, JUST GIVE ME TIME”. Hazel yelled, she abruptly ended the call and tossed her phone onto the couch.

“Any issues!” Lara asked seeing the other’s unsettled face.

Hazel eyes flashed with anger,“ they just don’t understand.”

“Want to talk about it?” Lara asked gently.

“Call my dad, and tell him that I’m not going to meet him.” Hazel bashed into her room closing the door with a loud thud.

Lara informed Mrs. Jones (hazel’s mom). She waited for her best friend to calm down.

“Wanna have some chat?” Lara asked seeing Hazel coming out of her room. Her eyes puffed, little red may be due to crying.

Hazel made herself comfortable beside Lara she started speaking with tears pooling in her eyes.

“What does he want now.”? Hazel questioned her voice hoarse barely audible but not as a whisper. She wiped her tears, but fresh ones started flowing again.

“I can say he’s a successful businessman but to his family he’s a failed one. Do you know how my mother used to wait for him for his care, affection and talks…but it didn't concern him not even an ounce ! Forget about children he just behaved like he has none. And as he has gotten old enough he wants to bring the lost time!!!

Like seriously when there’s no emotional foundation since the beginning you can’t expect anything. Especially to express those empty Feelings. I’m responsible enough for him to fulfill his needs, but I can’t give him a lovely FATHER – DAUGHTER relation.” Hazel spoke …she let out a deep sign …feeling the weight lift from her body.

“That’s why you are my strong girl. And that is why I’m always there for you, you have me. Don’t worry. Just Give yourself time. You may not be able to fix it completely let the time decide.” Lara assured giving soothing circles on her best friend. Hazel nodded slightly.

That night went by with comfortable silence around them.
