EPISODE 4

BACK TO THE STORY

SERENA'S POV:-

(Serena came out and started to walk through roads of the city, It was a soft afternoon and her steps unhurried. The company had officially commenced her leave after the merger, and there was nothing more she could do about it. With quiet acceptance, she wandered through the familiar streets, taking the city she rarely had time to notice before.)

I am wandering through the streets of this city, I never got time to explore the another side of this city because I was not interested, but today I was because I want to celebrate the first step of my success.

I was walking around the streets watching the shops but my was occupied by something else. His eyes....The eyes of Mr. Rhode. I shook my head, trying to push  away the image of his eyes. The city buzzed around me but my thoughts were unusually quiet- fixated.

Just I was waling while managing my thoughts, A soft hum of the engine captured my ears. A sleek black car pulled up in front of a flower shop, revealing a man's silhouette which I had some hour ago. There he was my mind occupier Mr. Rhode...Dylan Rhode.

I internally screamed in my mind looking at him. "Why now?", "Why here?" My mind raced faster than my feet had a moment ago. The man I tried not to think about since the eye contact was standing just meters away. Calm. Collected. Dangerous, in a way I couldn't explain. Just I was again occupied by my thoughts, I noticed Mr. Rhode was looking at me...."WHATTTTT?", He was looking at me and I noticed he signaled me something. A bouquet...Flower bouquet, which he bought and kept on the certain area. I was confused. Like he bought flowers and signaled me as he wants to take it.

I was about to go towards him, but he shook his head looking through my eyes making an eye contact again. I stopped in my track, and he hopped up in his car. As the car door closed behind him and the city swallowed him once again, I was left standing there- pulse racing, mind spinning in confusion. I went and took the bouquet, which he had placed earlier. A small smile appeared in my face, as it is the first time someone had bought me flowers. My smile soon became small after noticing something unfamiliar in a bunch of flowers...A note...A piece of note which contained a phone number. A phone number....along with a small sentence " This is my phone number Ms. Brooks. I'd like to contact you after sometime". My mind went numb, why in the world does Mr. Rhode wants to contact me? and the flowers?

Along with the confusion, I had something good to eat and headed towards home.

                        END OF SERENA'S POV

DYLAN'S POV:-

(Driving the car while smiling, thinking about Serena's confused yet cute face)

I should have stopped myself, but I was not able to.

For months, I had watched her quietly from a distance- the woman whose presence I couldn't seem to ignore. I didn't know her name, didn't know where she worked, didn't even know if fate would allow to cross paths again. And yet, ever since the merger began, it was as if the universe had finally whispered her name into my ear: SERENA.

And now...now I had crossed my line. I exhaled slowly, leaning against my leather seat of my car, driving and thinking about the note. My note that I gave to her along with the flower bouquet. I was reminding myself to not to "act like a emotional fool caught in emotions" due to some past happened in my life.

But in that moment- when she looked at with me with those questioning eyes- I knew I wouldn't have forgiven myself if I had walked away again without doing something, which I have been doing for the few months. Even if it was something as simple as slipping a note with my number.

Still, when I shook my head earlier, silently signaling her not to approach...It wasn't rejection. Far from it. It was protection. If she had walked towards me, with so many eyes already on us, the headlines tomorrow would write stories neither of us deserved...destroying my feelings.

Now, all I could do was wait. Wait and hope to gather my courage, to open up the feelings which I held in my heart that I'd been holding back for too long.
