Episode # 4
Advika sat on the edge of the bed, holding an open picture book in her hands.
Her son, Kaison, lay beside her, his tiny body curled up under a soft blanket.
His eyes were closed, and his breathing was slow and even.
She looked at him for a moment, her eyes soft and full of love. Then, she closed the book quietly and placed it on the nightstand.
She leaned down to kiss his forehead.
Her hand brushed his soft hair.
Advika Joseph (FL)
I won't let anyone take you away from me, kaison.
She whispered. Her voice trembled a little.
He didn't wake up, but his tiny fingers twitched, reaching for her hand in his sleep. She took his hand in hers and held it for a long time.
The door creaked open gently. Kaison's nanny peeked in, her voice soft.
Candice (Kaison's nanny)
Everything okay, ma'am?
Advika looked up from the bed and nodded.
Advika Joseph (FL)
I have a midnight shift, so I need to check on Lena first.
She glanced at the clock.
Advika Joseph (FL)
What time is it?
Candice (Kaison's nanny)
10: 30 p.m., ma'am.
Advika Joseph (FL)
Perfect.
Advika said, standing up slowly.
Advika Joseph (FL)
Let me go now. I'll just want to change first.
Candice nodded and stepped aside as Advika walked toward her room.
She gave one last look at kaison, still sleeping soundly, and smiled gently before leaving the room.
The bar was dim, quiet. No customers. Advika rushed in, breath short.
She called, spotting her friend behind the counter, mixing drinks fast.
Lena (FL's friend)
Hey, Advika. Need a favor?
Advika Joseph (FL)
Yes, but–
Lena (FL's friend)
Wait, before that.
Lena (FL's friend)
I have a special guests tonight. That's why it's empty. I forgot something–can you mix drinks for me? Please, Doctor?
Advika Joseph (FL)
Lena, this is serious–
Lena (FL's friend)
I know. Just help me. Two minutes.
She grabbed Advika's hand, pulling her behind the counter.
Lena (FL's friend)
I'll be right back.
Lena disappeared through a back door.
Advika sighed and looked down at the bottles, trying to copy what she'd seen Lena do.
Suddenly, the front door slammed open.
A man stumbled in, face bloody, shirt soaked in red.
He gasped, falling to his knees.
Advika stood froze, eyes wide open.
A tall man in a dark coat stepped in, holding a smoking. Leather gloves. Cold eyes. *LAZARUS*
He shot the bleeding man again.
Advika stood frozen, hands shaking.
More men rushed in behind him.
Lazarus slowly turned to her. their eyes locked. He raised the gun.
