Getting Rid of Mom’s Love Rival

The two little ones stared wide-eyed the first time they saw their scumbag dad.

But honestly, he matched up pretty well with the info they’d dug up before.

Deep, chiseled handsome features. He wore a custom-tailored dark gray suit, a crisp white shirt buttoned all the way up. His long legs looked lean and restrained in those dress pants. The cufflinks on his sleeves gleamed coldly, adding to his imposing, noble, and chilly aura.

“Sir, we’ve found the young master and young miss,” Zhou Yi reported as he set the two kids down in front of Emperor Shi Jing.

Shi Jing lowered his gaze, looking at the two kids brought back with undeniable authority. His deep eyes carried a heavy, suppressed emotion, filling the VIP room with an overwhelming pressure.

Yet the kids met his gaze without a hint of fear.

Mu Mu even edged closer to her brother, whispering, “Brother, is that really our dad? He’s so handsome!”

Xian Xian shot her a glare.

Quietly, he hissed, “Don’t praise him! He’s the heartless jerk who abandoned Mom and us!”

“We’re only here to figure out what happened to our brother and sister, got it?”

Mu Mu didn’t think too deeply about it, but hearing her brother, she obediently said “Okay,” nodding to show she understood.

“Don’t you have anything to say?”

Shi Jing finally spoke, his tone dripping with displeasure.

“Running away from home? Do you really think nobody out there would dare mess with you?”

Run away from home?

The two kids blinked in surprise, then immediately got it.

Looks like this scumbag dad isn’t treating their brother and sister any better. Otherwise, why would two little kids run away?

Xian Xian felt relieved that he and Mu Mu had grown up with Mom, who’d never let them suffer any injustice.

Seeing the pressure from their dad rising, Zhou Yi quickly tried to calm the kids.

“Young master, young miss, please understand. This is all a misunderstanding... Sir has no plans to discuss marriage with Nan Wanyue. The Nan and Bo families only have business dealings. They’re just going to a neighboring city for a project, not trying to avoid you.”

“Don’t be mad anymore. Nan Wanyue has already been sent away.”

That made Xian Xian even clearer on the situation.

So the scumbag dad was trying to marry that shameless fake heiress from the Nan family, Nan Wanyue. No wonder their siblings ran away!

Tsk.

Xian Xian’s expression turned cold as he retorted, “Misunderstanding? How is that possible? You really abandoned Mom for Nan Wanyue, didn’t you?”

He clenched his jaw, matching the man’s coldness with his own fiery words, “And now you’re probably going to ditch me and Mu Mu too. Our running away just happens to suit you, right?!”

Shi Jing’s face darkened as he snapped, “Where did you hear that?”

In the Shi family, nobody dared mention that woman’s name for years. How could these kids possibly know about it?

Zhou Yi’s face went pale, realizing the young master was still as headstrong as ever.

Fearing a blow-up, he quickly jumped in, “Sir, maybe some servant gossiped and the kids overheard. Please calm down!”

Turning kindly to Xian Xian, he continued, “Young master, that’s not how it is. There’s more to the story about the divorce. Sir has no intention of abandoning you now.”

“Don’t try to fool us! We’re not three-year-olds!”

Xian Xian snorted, pointing at Shi Jing with each word.

“If that were true, why have you been hanging around some woman all these years?”

“My mom...”

He almost slipped up but quickly recovered, keeping a straight face.

“We saw it on TV. They said if you don’t like someone, you should just be straightforward.”

“Not play games or pretend. Don’t think because we’re young you can lie to us!”

He sounded completely justified, like a kid putting on a show — and honestly, it was pretty convincing.

Mu Mu nodded in agreement, “I think Brother is right.”

Shi Jing was so surprised by the small voice full of anger that he froze.

Zhou Yi and the bodyguards were equally stunned.

The young miss had actually spoken???

Remember, the Bo family’s little princess, Di Xingwan, had been kidnapped two years ago, leaving her with a mental illness that made her stop speaking. She only communicated by writing, and only her brother could understand her.

But now... she spoke!

Shi Jing was shocked but secretly pleased.

He stepped forward carefully, asking softly, “Wanwan, what did you just say?”

His voice was nervous and excited, totally different from before.

Mu Mu jumped at the sudden attention, confused.

Why was Dad so worked up?

Had she said something important?

Not really...

Zhou Yi also snapped back to reality, thrilled, “Young miss, you finally spoke!”

“Wanwan, can you say something more to Dad?”

Shi Jing asked cautiously, all his anger forgotten in surprise.

???

The two kids were baffled.

Ignoring how weird this scumbag dad’s request was, the implication was... the Wanwan he referred to was mute?

Mu Mu instantly realized she’d almost slipped up and quickly pretended to be mute again, refusing to speak further.

No way was she going to reveal anything!

Shi Jing tried but to no avail — his daughter had suddenly gone back to being the quiet little princess.

Zhou Yi noticed the disappointment in Shi Jing’s eyes and tried to comfort him.

“Sir, she probably spoke because she was excited. It’ll take time, she’ll get better.”

Shi Jing nodded, fell silent for a moment, then said, “Forget it.”

The joy from his daughter’s voice outweighed his frustration.

“Today’s misunderstanding, I’ll explain again. I’m not getting married! So no more running away, okay?”

He bent down, scooped up one kid in each arm with practiced ease.

Xian Xian frowned, ready to struggle.

But the moment he was held, he actually felt... comfortable.

And for the first time, safe.

Mu Mu felt the same.

They were still kids, after all.

Finally, they silently gave in, letting Shi Jing carry them away.
