Mom’s death

Mom always worked so hard when growing up,she was always at the hospital doing her shifts cause she’s a midwife, she was barely ever at home so it was always me and with time I became a loner I preferred my own company and I considered talking to someone other than my mom a disturbed .

Mom and dad divorced when I was barely three years old because of his unfaithfulness, ever since then mom never got remarried or gave anyone else a chance, she just focused on me and her job.

It was my high school graduation and I was 16 years old then when I was eagerly waiting for my mom to show up to my graduation ceremony and we will take pictures , my dad didn’t even bother to show up he claimed he was too busy and my mom had a shift that day but she promised to take a leave of absence to attend my graduation.

I was just looking at the entrance the whole time waiting for the moment I will sight my mom among the crowd but that never happened all I saw after hours of waiting was my dad face with a sad expression too sad for someone his daughter was graduating, I waved him from where I was standing because little people were remaining at the graduation ceremony, he came to me and said we needed to go home, I asked him why? If he had heard from my mum , he broke the news to me that my mum was involved in a fatal motor accident on her way here and just like that my whole world came crashing down .

After mom’s funeral I went to live with my dad and stepmom, they had thirteen year old twins boys and they made my life hell because they weren’t open to fact that I came to live with them, and my dad was always traveling on business trips so he didn’t know or care how his wife treated me , that’s how I got my cheerful nature because there was no need being sad about how life was treating me I just got used to the fact that I had to be happy no matter what maybe it was my coping mechanisms or a facade I put on to cover my pains .

So when applying for college I made sure I applied far away from home because I knew my stepmom was dying for me to finally leave the house and I did , I was lucky enough to be admitted to the school I applied for and I vowed to only focus on my studies and never marry a man like my dad. First year in college was tough not in terms of money because my mom left money for my college and dad always sent me allowance even though it was little.

I was so focused on my studies and didn’t even have time to make friends, people always referred to my dressing sense as tacky but it wasn’t really my business whatever opinion they had of me and no matter the insults I got from my Coursemate’s I always gave them a cheerful smile and just walk off , so that came about my nickname the campus saint or some just called me the campus virgin .
