Mystic Twins: Heirs to the Thornbound Curse
Part 3: Bag Thieves, Telepathic Sass, and Vaethiel Grace
After a few moments, Selyndraeth, Eirionox, and Theodora finished their meal. The three stepped out of the restaurant into the bustling street—but just as they did, both twins caught sight of something.
Two men sprinted past them, laughing like hyenas. One of them clutched a shimmering silver bag—crafted from rare mithril alligator scale—ripped from the grip of a noblewoman who had been chatting with her friends. The woman gasped in horror.
Selyndraeth gave Eirionox a quick look. No words spoken, but their eyes said it all.
Eirionox shot off like an arrow, disappearing into the crowd in a blur. Selyndraeth, unbothered, simply turned to Theodora and smiled.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“Stay with me. He’s got it handled.” 😌
Meanwhile, down the street, the thieves didn’t get far.
Eirionox caught up with them with little effort. With one smooth motion, he flipped midair, spun, and knocked both men to the ground with twin kicks to their heads. They groaned, stunned, before Eirionox grabbed them by their hair and yanked them upright.
Eirionox Vaethiel
“You done?” 😄
The one holding the bag whimpered and dropped it as Eirionox’s grip tightened. The crowd watched in shock—and among them, a nearby guard finally approached, looking alarmed.
???
“Hey—! You! Let them go!” 😠
The guard shouted, raising his weapon.
???
“You’re being violent! That’s against—” 😠😰
But then, Eirionox’s appearance shifted in the blink of an eye.
The crowd gasped as the guard froze, heart nearly leaping from his chest.
Blue eyes like frozen sapphire. An expression colder than the North’s deadest night. His mere gaze pierced through bone and soul.
He was Eirionox Vaethiel, the Cold-Blooded Beast of the Northeast, a noble child from the Imperial Vaethiel Family. A young duke. The kind of boy whose offense spelled your death warrant.
The guard dropped his weapon.
???
“I–I apologize, Your Grace!” 😰😓
Eirionox released the two thieves, letting them slump to the ground like trash.
Eirionox Vaethiel
“Arrest them,” 😇
The guard barked. Two more guards arrived and quickly restrained the men without another word.
Eirionox leaned down, picked up the shimmering mithril bag, and handed it back to the noblewoman. She bowed immediately.
???
“Thank you, Young Duke,”
She said, visibly shaken and humbled.
Eirionox nodded once and left without another word.
Like a drop of blood freezing the moment it touches snow—he came and went with the same silence.
He walked back to where Selyndraeth and Theodora stood waiting, hands in his coat pockets like nothing happened. As he approached, Selyndraeth sent a message directly into his mind.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
"What did you do to them, Eir?" 💭
She asked telepathically, using his nickname.
Eirionox Vaethiel
"Just caught them, lifted them by their hair, and gripped tight. That’s all. Why?" 💭
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
"You should’ve just kicked their balls and slapped their face a hundred times," 💭
Selyndraeth answered dryly.
Eirionox chuckled under his breath.
Eirionox Vaethiel
"You really like brutal things, huh? Still carrying those intrusive thoughts from our old world?" 💭
They exchanged looks—familiar, teasing. Their silent banter stirred an amused confusion in Theodora, who kept glancing at them.
Theodora Nightshade
“…What are you two even doing?” 😑
Theodora Nightshade
“You keep looking at each other like you’re planning to murder someone with your minds.” 😑
Selyndraeth grinned and turned to her.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“We are, but not you.” 😏
Theodora Nightshade
“Huh?!” 😐
Eirionox Vaethiel
“We’re just talking. In our heads,” 😆
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“Telepathy,” 😒
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“One of the perks.” 😒
Theodora Nightshade
“Oh… I want that.” 😤
The twins looked at her and laughed again. Then, Selyndraeth’s tone softened as she asked,
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“So… where are your parents?” 🧐
Theodora Nightshade
“I don’t know. I’ve never met them. I’m an orphan, remember?” 😕
Eirionox sighed and rolled his eyes.
Eirionox Vaethiel
“Of course. You’re obviously an orpha—” 🙄
Before he could finish, Selyndraeth slapped her hand over his mouth and sent a firm message to his mind.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
"Shut. Up." 💭
Eirionox Vaethiel
"You asked first. You know the answer and still asked," 💭
Selyndraeth sighed and let go, giving him a light glare before turning to Theodora again.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“Would you mind coming with us for a while? Back to our home, I mean. Just to rest. You seem tired.” 😄✌
Theodora blinked in surprise.
Theodora Nightshade
“Wait—really? I can come?”
Eirionox Vaethiel
“If you don’t mind having tea with two possibly evil nobles from a cursed family,” ☺
Eirionox said with a half-smirk.
Theodora Nightshade
“Better than being alone in the street. I’ll risk it.” 😅
The twins shared a glance.
They had tried to avoid bumping into any game character—especially one like Theodora Nightshade—but at this point, the plot was already off-script.
Too late to pretend they were just passing NPCs.
The Vaethiel Palace loomed ahead like a dark cathedral carved from obsidian and silver. Tall spires stabbed the sky. The gates alone were large enough to fit a giant.
As they approached, Theodora’s breath caught.
Theodora Nightshade
“This is your house?” 🤯
Theodora Nightshade
“I thought this was a royal fortress…” 😳
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“Technically, it’s both,” 😉
Selyndraeth said with a wink.
Theodora leaned close, whispering more to herself than to anyone.
Theodora Nightshade
“Wow… so this is the Vaethiel Imperial Palace. I thought the rumors about you were exaggerated—but even the bricks are beautiful. Do all of you just… never age?” 🤯😳
She stared in awe as a young-looking woman approached the gates from the inside. Her silver hair flowed down her back like liquid metal. Skin smooth, radiant. Eyes sharp.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“That’s our grandmother. Lady Evergloom.” 🤩
Theodora Nightshade
“Granny?! She looks younger than me!”
👁👄👁
Eirionox Vaethiel
“She gets that a lot,” 🥱
Lady Evergloom walked up to them, her presence elegant yet commanding.
Evergloom Vaethiel
“Ah. My precious grandchildren return. And who is this little flower?” 🥰
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“Theodora,” ☺
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“A… companion.” 😁
Evergloom studied her for a moment. Then smiled faintly.
Evergloom Vaethiel
“Charming.” 🥰
Before Theodora could respond, the palace doors opened, revealing another breathtaking figure—tall, graceful, with a wave of vibrant red hair spills over her shoulder, framing a face of ethereal beauty. Her captivating eyes, a mix of yellow and green, command attention.
Dawnthorn Vaethiel
“The twins have returned,” 🤭
Dawnthorn Vaethiel
“And brought home a guest?” 🤗
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
“Auntie,” 🥰
Eirionox Vaethiel
“Lady Dawnthorn,” 😊
Eirionox added, respectfully.
Their aunt nodded, stepping forward and gently patting Theodora’s cheek.
Dawnthorn Vaethiel
“You're adorable. Stay as long as you wish. As long as you're with them, no harm will touch you here.” 🥰
Theodora blushed at her touch. Hard. Her heart did a weird jump and her breath hitched slightly.
Theodora Nightshade
“I—uh… thank you…” 😳
Eirionox noticed. He turned to Selyndraeth with a mischievous grin and sent a silent message.
Eirionox Vaethiel
"She just blushed at Aunt Dawn. You seeing that?" 💭
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
"Noticed it ten seconds ago," 💭
Selyndraeth responded flatly.
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
"Little lesbian awakening moment?" 💭
Selyndraeth Vaethiel
"Definitely. First crush: achieved." 💭
Selyndraeth smirked. Theodora, still stunned, followed them as they stepped inside the palace.
Though the Vaethiel family was feared for their blood-stained legacy—ruthless minds, powerful abilities, cold history—they were still family. And family, in their own twisted way… always welcomed guests.
Even those destined to shift the future.
