The low hum of the AC filled the room. Veer Malhotra sat behind his mahogany desk, staring at the wedding invitation his mother had left behind earlier that day. Gold letters,Crimson borders. Veer Rudra Malhotra weds Kavya Mehra.

(he scoffed) "what a joke, marriage,love and forever."

All just words,Illusions dressed in tradition and fairy lights. He poured himself a glass of whiskey and leaned back in the chair, shirt sleeves rolled up, jaw tight. The door clicked open. Anjali Malhotra peeked in, her soft smile barely hiding the nerves in her eyes.

(he looked at the door and said softly) "yes maa."

she sat on his bed and asked him to sit with her for few minutes, he got up from his desk and sat beside her

Downstairs, in the sunlit sitting room, Anjali Malhotra gently ran her fingers over the folded sherwani meant for Veer. She smiled softly
