"I don't care about your schedules! Get out of here now!" Arthur roared, his voice filled with irritation.
Sabrina maintained her composure, despite the harsh tone. "Mr. Maldonado, I understand you don't want me here, but I need to make sure you take your medication. It's important for your health."
She went to the small bedside table, where she saw some medicine bottles. She picked one up and read the label, confirming it was the two o'clock medication. Then she took a glass and went to the water bottle on the dresser, pouring some.
"I told you to leave! I don't need your help!" Arthur insisted, turning his face to the opposite side.
"I know it's difficult for you, but I'm here to help. Please, take the medicine. You'll feel better," Sabrina said in a calm tone, trying to convey reassurance.
Arthur remained still, stubborn. Sabrina approached the bed with the glass and the pill in her hand.
"Mr. Maldonado, please. It's just a moment. Think about your health. And I won't leave here until you take the medication."
Silence hung in the room for a few tense seconds. Sabrina waited patiently, without forcing the situation, but remaining firm in her decision. Finally, Arthur sighed heavily.
"You're very insistent, I don't like this at all." His voice was arrogant, but after much hesitation... "Leave it there. I'll take it myself," he said.
Sabrina brought the glass and the pill closer to Arthur's outstretched hand. He groped the air until he found the objects. He put the pill in his mouth and drank the water with difficulty, turning his face away as soon as he finished.
"There. Now you can go," he said, his voice still filled with impatience.
"I'll be around if you need anything," Sabrina replied gently, putting the glass back on the table. She knew that this small victory was just the beginning of a long road. "Excuse me," Sabrina withdrew politely, closing the door silently.
"What a bothersome little woman, she's the worst of all who have been here. I've never seen anyone so insistent." Arthur muttered softly, feeling annoyed.
Sabrina went to the room that would be hers from that day on. She arranged her clothes in the closet. After everything was organized, she took out her cell phone to check the time. There were many missed calls from her boyfriend.
"What does Vitor want?"
Soon after everything was properly arranged, Sabrina went down to the mansion's kitchen. Vera had prepared a delicious afternoon coffee. "Make yourself at home, my dear. Eat well to take care of young Arthur."
The nurse was amazed and at the same time curious about the way Vera referred to her boss.
"Does Mr. Maldonado live here alone? I thought Mrs. Serena Maldonado lived here too."
Vera sighed when she heard the question from the new member of the house. "There are many things, my daughter, that I can't talk about. You saw how the lady was when I talked about Arthur being more attached to me. She doesn't like the employees talking about it."
Sabrina lowered her head, feeling ashamed. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I won't bring up this subject again."
Vera was silent, pouring herself a cup of coffee.
"There are things, my dear, that we need to keep quiet about so it doesn't fall on us."
Vera spoke in an enigmatic way. Sabrina soon understood that the Maldonado family was hiding dark secrets.
She finished her meal and soon went up to the second floor of the house. Sabrina returned to Arthur's room. It was his bath time.
"What are you doing here again, nurse?" Arthur asks when he hears the bedroom door open.
"How do you know it's me?" Sabrina asked curiously.
"Your footsteps are already known, nurse," he argued, quite stressed. "But how do you know, Mr. Maldonado? We met today and you've already recorded the sound of my footsteps?"
"It's... it's just that... I don't usually receive visitors in the room, you know? Especially... so many times like this," Arthur stammered, turning his face away. The explanation sounded forced, and he knew it.
Sabrina raised an eyebrow, noticing the hesitation and lack of conviction in his words. "I understand. But I came to help you with your bath, Mr. Maldonado. It's important for your hygiene and well-being."
She approached the bed, maintaining a professional and gentle tone, despite his obvious irritation. Arthur pursed his lips, showing his displeasure.
"I don't need your help to take a bath! I can do it myself!" He protested, trying to sound firm, but his voice still carried a trace of weakness.
"I know you can, Mr. Maldonado, but the doctor recommended that I assist you. It's for your safety," Sabrina explained patiently, "and also your mother told me to help you with this."
Arthur snorted, turning his head to the other side. Silence settled again in the room, charged with tension. Sabrina waited, without insisting, giving him a moment to process the situation.
In reality, Arthur's explanation was a farce. From the moment Sabrina had entered the room for the first time, a subtle and unmistakable aroma had permeated the air. It was a masculine perfume, strong and woody, which somehow harmonized with her presence. Arthur, with his keen sense of smell, had registered that peculiar scent. And now, feeling that soft fragrance invading the room again, he knew, even before she spoke, that it was Sabrina who was there. It was an intimate and unexpected detail that his mind stubbornly insisted on registering, despite the irritation he felt at the nurse's constant presence.
"Mr. Maldonado, please. I need to do my job and you're acting like a spoiled child, making things difficult."
Arthur turns quickly in the direction of her voice. "Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? You're unbearable, nurse."
An agonizing silence echoed in the room. Sabrina stared at him, knowing she had exaggerated in her speech, but retreating now would be cowardly.
"With all due respect, Mr. Maldonado. But your action resembles that of a spoiled child. You know you need to take a bath, you know you need my help to assist you, and yet you act as if you don't care about anything."
"You're a cheeky one, nurse," Arthur says angrily. I am the most important CEO in this country and you act as if I were nobody.
"I don't consider myself that way. But if you think that way, I can't do anything. You need to cooperate so that your recovery is not delayed."
