The evening sun dipped low~
Casting a warm glow over the village.
Jungkook stood in the Kim family’s small yard~ wearing one of Mr. Kim’s old shirts and pants—too big for even his broad frame~
The sleeves dangling past his hands. Lily~ Tae’s little sister~ doubled over with laughter~

You look like a scarecrow!
She giggled~ clutching her stomach.
Jungkook glared~ his jaw tight.

💭 I wish I had my gun. I’d shut this brat up~
He thought darkly~ though he’d never act on it. Tae~
Standing nearby~ bit his lip~ trying to stifle his own laughter.
His eyes sparkled with mischief~
Which only made Jungkook’s scowl deepen. Even Mr. and Mrs. Kim~ usually so composed~ struggled to hide their smiles.
Mrs. Kim stepped forward~
Her warm hands cupping Jungkook’s cheeks.

It’s not funny~ dear~ it’s cute. You look cute.
That did it. Tae burst out laughing~
Lily howled louder~ and even Mr. Kim let out a chuckle.
Jungkook’s face burned~ his pout deepening
As he stormed out of the house~
The oversized clothes flapping.
Night was falling~ the village growing quiet under a blanket of stars.
Dinner time came~ but Jungkook didn’t return.
The Kim family waited~ their small wooden table set with simple plates. Tae glanced at the empty spot~ then at his mother.

He’s probably by the lake. Says he hates nature but spends all his time there.
He smirked~ shaking his head.

He’s stubborn~ but don’t tease him~ Tae.

As he walked toward the lake~
Darkness cloaked the village~
The only light coming from fireflies and a faint glow ahead.
There~ by the water~ Jungkook sat on the grass~ a small lantern flickering beside him.
He was staring at the sky~
His expression softer than Tae had ever seen.
But Jungkook didn’t flinch~ just rolled his eyes.

It was funny~ so we laughed~ We weren’t teasing you.
Tae said~ his voice is firm but kind.
Jungkook glanced at him~ then back in the sky~ saying nothing.
Tae sat nearby~ his innocent eyes studying the alpha.

You miss your family~?
Jungkook sighed~ his voice was low.

He trailed off~ frowning.

Tae smile then blinked~ confused.

Black magic~? Who told you that~?
Jungkook shot back~ half-serious.
They bickered~ voices rising until Tae stood~

Come on~ dinner is ready.

Back at the house~ the Kim family welcomed Jungkook to their small table.
Mrs. Kim had cooked meat—a rare~ expensive treat for their modest home.

And wanted to give him strength. Jungkook~ though grumpy~ ate heartily~
The savory warmth surprising him.

Squeezing into Tae and Lily’s room to sleep. Mrs. Kim even changed the bedsheets to make him comfortable~
Treating him like a guest despite his rude attitude. Jungkook noticed~
His heart stirring~ though he stayed silent.
After dinner~ the family gathered around a small fire outside~
The night air growing chilly. Tae and Lily played~ laughing about village gossip and silly games.
Mr. and Mrs. Kim talked about fixing the flower shop’s leaky roof~ their voices warm with love.
Jungkook sat nearby~ pretending to be bored~ but he listened.
Their chatter—simple~ grounded~ full of care—felt foreign to him.
