Episode 04

The sound of my alarm clock snapped me out of sleep.

I rubbed my eyes, slowly sat up, and let out a long yawn.

I glanced at the clock, 6:00 a.m.

Time to get ready for school. Ugh.

Still tired, I dragged myself to the bathroom to take a quick shower, hoping the water would wash off my lingering sleepiness and maybe the memory of last night, too.

When I got downstairs, the house was quiet.

Empty.

I made a simple sandwich and ate in silence. No energy for anything fancy.

After eating, I brushed my teeth, put on my school uniform, and tied my hair neatly.

A new day. Same routine.

Except now… there’s this one new thing I couldn’t get out of my head.

Or person.

As I arrived at school, the first thing I saw was Sarah waving at me like an overexcited child.

I narrowed my eyes and glared at her.

She’s so dead.

"Hehehehe," she giggled, clearly proud of herself.

I sighed, trying to keep my cool.

"Sarah, you insolent little—" I stopped myself, exhaling through my nose.

"You left me alone with someone I literally just met an hour before."

"Oh, come on," she said with a smug grin. "Sam’s not bad, right?"

I stared at her, lips pressed tight.

Sigh. I couldn’t even argue with that.

And she knew it.

"See you later at lunch. I seriously want to punch you right now," I muttered under my breath.

"Hehehehe," she just giggled, putting on that fake innocent face before skipping off like she hadn’t just ruined my peace.

I made my way to my department, and the moment I stepped inside, chaos greeted me chatter, people stressing, some are reviewing.

Classic.

After two hours of lectures on the Fundamentals of Nursing, my brain felt like mashed potatoes. I let out a long sigh as I stood up, stretching the stiffness from my spine.

Finally. Lunch.

I walked toward the cafeteria, ready to zone out and inhale food.

Then I saw them.

Sarah.

Xavier.

And… Sam.

Wait—SAM?!

What is he doing here?!

These two best friends seriously deserve to be punched.

Of course they sat beside each other again leaving the only available seat right next to him.

Wonderful.

I forced a smile and slid into the seat beside Sam, trying to act like my heart wasn’t sprinting.

"Hello," I said politely, looking at everyone except him.

I could feel his eyes on me.

I didn’t dare look back.

"Hi," he said, his voice low, short. Calm.

Meanwhile, the two devils sitting across from us were giggling like they’d been possessed by Satan himself.

I gave Sarah a glare. She gave me a wink.

Unbelievable.

We ate in silence after that—tense, awkward, yet oddly… comfortable. Like none of us wanted to be the first to break it.

Especially not me.

I waited at the benches just outside the school gate, the afternoon sun warm against my back. Students passed by, laughing, rushing, living in their own worlds.

But I was waiting for a certain someone.

"Did you wait too long?"

A voice came from beside me soft, calm, almost careful.

I turned to him, that same unreadable expression on his face.

"No, you're just on time," I said with a small smile.

"Let’s go?" he asked, adjusting the strap of his bag.

"Sure," I replied, standing and following him without question.

No idea where this was heading.

But somehow… I didn’t mind.

...To be continued....

(Short chapter for now. Huhu)
