"Chained In His Shadow" EPISODE 5

[Shi Mansion – Early Morning]

head maid

(frowning): Where is that brat? He hasn’t started work yet?

[She walks angrily toward the storage room. The hallway is silent. She flings the door open.]

head maid

(snarling): Su Mian! How dare you sleep this—

[She freezes mid-sentence. Her eyes widen in horror.] The room smells of iron. Dim light filters through the tiny window. Blood stains the cold floor. Su Mian lies unconscious. Bruises run along his arms, legs, and back. His body looks so small. So… broken.

head maid

(whispers, trembling): W-What...?

[She rushes to him, bends down, and shakes his arm lightly.]

head maid

(shaky voice): Su Mian... wake up... come on...

(Su mian didn't react)

[The maid panics. For the first time, fear crosses her face. She runs down the hall and up the stairs.]

Shi Zichen’s Room

[Knocking loudly.]

head maid

S-Sir! Open the door—it's urgent!

[Door swings open. Shi Zichen, hair messy, face pale from drinking, scowls.]

shi Zichen( Male lead)

*Coldly watching*

head maid

(panting): I-It’s Su Mian… sir… he’s… not waking up. … a-and he has a high fever. His breathing is faint...

[Shi Zichen narrows his eyes. For a second, his gaze flickers—but only for a second.]

shi Zichen( Male lead)

(flatly): Take him to the hospital.

shi Zichen( Male lead)

(pausing, without looking back): But don’t let him die.

at hospital

[Ni Chen, respected doctor and Shi Zichen’s close friend, enters the treatment room. He halts in shock at Su Mian’s condition.]

He steps closer, eyes scanning the bruises, fainted expression, and temperature report.]

doctor (Male lead friend ni chen)

(tight tone): Start immediate treatment. He's barely hanging on.

[Medical team rushes. Later, after treatment Su Mian is shifted to a normal ward. Ni Chen steps outside.]

doctor (Male lead friend ni chen)

(to head maid): He’ll wake up soon. Keep an eye. I’ll return later.

In evening

[Su Mian slowly opens his eyes. Blinks at the ceiling. Sits up silently, looking at his bruised arms.]

su mian (mc )

(thinking, childlike): Why… it’s not hurting? Last time, it hurt a lot. But this time… Eyes light up. New master is a magician… so amazing! I’ll work harder… I’ll do everything well! Whatever's new master say

[He smiles brightly, then giggles softly.] [A nurse enters quietly, surprised to see him awake and smiling.]

nurse

(gently): Are you feeling better now?

su mian (mc )

(nodding, polite): Yes, ma’am! I’m okay now. Can I go home? I have to complete my work after I can get food * happy*

[Nurse blinks, confused.]

nurse

Don’t… don’t you feel any pain?

su mian (mc )

(cheerfully): No! Master did magic. I don’t feel pain now! He’s so kind...

[Nurse freezes. Her expression changes. She quickly exits the room.]
