I swallow hard My steps quicken

Students murmur, gossip drifting like smoke around me

Student 3; They said there was blood on the back fence...

student 1; No body though Student 2; Creepy, right? What if it’s a serial killer?

I try not to listen. But I can’t help noticing them staring At me Whispering

Was it always like this? Or did it start when I found that… note?

The one tucked inside my locker, written in jagged, red ink

I glance over my shoulder Students move past me Laughing. Talking. Acting like nothing’s wrong

But somewhere… someone is watching I can feel it crawling on my skin like cold breath.
