The jet was luxury dipped in silence.
Black marble floors. Velvet seats. Gold trim.
And crew?
Too handsome.
Ezra sat by the window, pretending to gaze at the clouds.
But really?
She was people-watching.
Every man on this flight looked like he’d stepped out of a fashion magazine. Sharp jawlines, clean-cut uniforms, discreet muscles under white shirts. Even the guy pouring coffee had lashes longer than hers.
> Cute.
Dangerous.
Too good to be true.
One leaned in to hand her a towel. Ezra caught the glint of a silver chain under his collar. His cologne was soft and addictive.
She gave a tiny smile, polite, graceful.
She didn’t flirt.
She didn’t speak.
Just… eye-washed.
Quietly.
Joshua was sitting across the cabin, pretending to read.
But his knuckles had gone white on the folder in his lap.
Ezra leaned back, sipping her drink, lashes half-lowered. A silent hum in her mind.
> They’re good-looking, sure.
But no one looks like him.
Not even close.
Still, she enjoyed the moment.
Until—
The third man passed. Ezra looked up without thinking.
And this one?
He smiled back.
Just a flash of teeth. Nothing dirty.
But that was it.
Joshua moved.
Fast.
The folder dropped.
In two strides, he was at her seat. And before she could blink—
“Hey!”
She was in the air.
Over his shoulder.
Thrown like luggage.
“Joshua!” she gasped, struggling. “What the hell?!”
He didn’t say a word.
His hand gripped the back of her thigh, tight. Controlling. Possessive. Hot.
The entire crew went dead silent.
> God. Not here. Not now.
Is he seriously doing this in front of everyone?!
He walked to their private suite at the back of the jet.
Kicked the door open.
Carried her inside. Slammed the door shut.
Locked.
Threw her onto the bed.
Ezra sat up fast, hair a mess, chest heaving. “Are you crazy?! I didn’t even say anything!”
Joshua didn’t respond.
He stood over her, silent, breathing hard.
“Then what was that?!” she snapped.
He leaned down slowly. Eyes cold. Voice quiet.
“You were watching them.”
“So?”
“You smiled.”
Ezra raised a brow, lips curling. “So what if I did?”
His jaw clenched. “You’re mine.”
“You didn’t look like you cared five minutes ago.”
Joshua leaned closer until his breath touched her lips.
“I care more than you realize.”
Her pulse stuttered. Heat pooled low in her stomach.
He didn’t kiss her.
He didn’t touch her.
He just stared at her like she was the last thing holding him together.
Then turned and walked out, slamming the door behind him.
Ezra sat alone in the silence, heart pounding.
> That didn’t happen last time.
In my past life, he barely noticed me.
But now?
He notices everything.
And this time, he’s already burning.
