The hallway reeked of antiseptic and too much silence. Noah had never liked hospitals, not even when they were necessary. But today, the sterile white walls felt like an accusation.
After running through the whole hall way, He stopped in front of Room 305. The chart on the door read
: Joshua Vale. Observation.
His fingers hovered over the handle.
He hadn’t cried when they called. He hadn’t cried when the officer said, "your brother tried to kill himself."
He just drove. Fast. Heart pounding like it was trying to escape the truth.
NOAH VALE
*pushed the door open*
Noah sat by the window, wrapped in a pale-blue hospital gown. The light cast long shadows across his face. He looked smaller than Jonah remembered. As if something essential had been siphoned out of him.
He didn’t look up.
NOAH VALE
h-hey *softly*
No response.
Noah stepped in and closed the door gently behind him.
NOAH VALE
*breathing heavily*
trying his best to act calm
NOAH VALE
You always liked the rain, huh? Said it made the world quieter.
JOSHUA VALE
*silent*
Joshua blinked slowly but didn’t turn. His gaze fixed on the Outside, droplets snaked down the glass like transparent veins.
noah moved closer and pulled the chair in the room next to the bed. He sat with his elbows on his knees.
