HOSPITAL

In the hospital of city A, in the ward, a man was lying on the bed, with his head wrapped in gauze and his hand also wrapped up in a bandage. His body was attached to many medical tubes, his eyes closed the ECG machine showing a steady heartbeat and only the sound of his heartbeat was audible in the ward.

(finger twitched)

He was seriously injured, lying unconscious on the hospital bed. It wasn’t unusual for someone in his condition to be here—after all, hospitals are meant for the wounded. But what was strange was the absence of any visitors. He had been admitted five days ago and remained in a coma ever since, yet not a single soul had come to see him.

Slowly, the man on the bed opened his eyes. His vision was still too blurry to make out the outlines of objects or register his surroundings. But before he could focus, a sharp wave of pain surged through his head and hand, rushing down his nerves and forcing him to shut his eyes again.

(gritting his teeth) [Fucking cowards. Couldn’t take me one-on-one, so they jumped me like rats. I’ll carve their faces into the pavement when I’m done bleeding.]

Despite the pain, he opened his eyes—slightly weary but comforted by the sight of the hospital room. Just as he thought he could finally rest, a wave of strange, unfamiliar memories crashed into his brain like a badly edited movie trailer. Dizzy and disoriented, he wished he could just rewind life a bit—go back, lie down, and catch up on some damn sleep without his brain throwing random flashbacks like a broken projector.
