The quiet hum of the streetlights buzzed above you. The city had gone still — no more shouting, no more chaos — just the soft echo of raindrops dripping from rooftops and the occasional whoosh of a car passing in the distance.
You didn’t know how long the two of you had been sitting there. Time didn’t matter. Wrapped in the comfort of each other’s presence, it felt like the night could last forever.
Chifuyu’s jacket still rested on your shoulders, heavy and warm. He hadn’t taken it back.
You knew why — he wanted you to keep something of him close.
You rested your head against his shoulder again, and this time, he leaned into you too. His hand found yours under the fabric, fingers threading together like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Chifuyu (quietly):
"I’ve never done this before."
You lifted your head slightly.
You:
"Done what?"
He smiled without looking at you — soft, shy, nothing like the confident boy everyone else knew.
Chifuyu:
"Trusted someone like this. Let them see this side of me. I always thought I had to be strong all the time. That letting someone in would make me weak."
You sat up a little straighter, facing him.
You:
"Letting someone in doesn’t make you weak. It means you’re brave enough to be real."
His eyes met yours again — so open, so vulnerable, it made your heart ache a little.
Chifuyu:
"You think so?"
You nodded.
You:
"I know so. And for what it’s worth… I’ve never felt safer than I do right now. Sitting here with you."
Chifuyu stared at you for a beat, then leaned forward and gently pressed a kiss to your forehead. It was light, tender — but it said everything he couldn’t.
You felt tears prick at your eyes, not from sadness, but from the sheer relief of it all.
Of being seen.
Of being loved — even in silence.
Chifuyu (soft):
"Let’s not go back to the way things were before. No more pretending. No more pushing you away."
You:
"Good. Because I’m not going anywhere."
He rested his head against yours, and for a long time, you simply sat in the stillness — not speaking, just breathing together.
Eventually, he reached into his pocket and pulled something out — a small charm. Faded, a little scuffed. It looked like something he’d had for years.
Chifuyu:
"I’ve had this since I was a kid. I used to keep it with me whenever I was scared… or felt alone."
He held it out to you.
"Now I want you to have it."
You blinked, touched beyond words.
You:
"Are you sure?"
He nodded.
Chifuyu:
"You’re my peace now. You’ve already given me more than I ever thought I’d have. Let me give something back."
You took the charm gently, holding it close. It was warm from his hand — like it carried a piece of his heart.
And as you both leaned against each other under that quiet city sky, you realized something:
The chaos may never fully go away. But love — steady, quiet, patient — would always be the shelter.
