As Dhruva's father entered KK Garden, he spotted his son looking around for him. He walked over and said, "Sorry, Dhruva, I’m a bit late. I hope you didn’t feel too alone or bored."
Dhruva, smiling, replied, "It’s okay, Father. I didn’t feel alone or bored. I understand it was important for Uncle and his business."
His father’s face lit up with pride. "It seems my son is growing up. Did you enjoy the slides?"
Dhruva’s face brightened. "Yes, Father, it was amazing!"
"I'm glad to hear that," Dhruva’s father said. "Now, let’s head home. It’s lunchtime, and your mom and sister are probably waiting for us."
Dhruva hesitated slightly. "Yes, Father, but... there’s something I wanted to tell you."
"Go ahead," his father said.
"I’d like you to meet a friend I made today," Dhruva said. "Her name is Venisha."
"Where is she?" his father asked.
Dhruva looked around and realized Venisha was standing a short distance away, watching them. He gave her a signal to come over. She approached, and Dhruva's father greeted her, "So you’re the friend Dhruva was talking about. What’s your name, little girl? And how can I help you?"
Venisha introduced herself. "I’m Venisha. I got lost, and Dhruva has been very kind to me."
After hearing Venisha’s story, Dhruva’s father reassured her. "Don’t worry, Venisha. Everything will be alright. I’m sure your parents are searching for you. They might be at the nearest police station to file a report. Let me call them and check."
He dialed Dispur police station. The officer who answered confirmed that a couple had been there an hour ago, reporting their child missing. "I’ll call them to come back to the station. You should come here too," the officer said.
Dhruva’s father relayed this to Venisha. "The officer said there was a couple here earlier looking for their daughter. They might be your parents."
Venisha’s eyes lit up. "Does this mean I’m going to see my mommy and daddy again?"
"Yes," Dhruva’s father assured her. "We’ll go to the police station soon, but first, I need to drop Dhruva home and get my ride."
Venisha nodded happily. "Okay, Uncle!"
Dhruva took Venisha’s hand. "It was nice to meet you, Venisha. I really enjoyed our time together today. Let’s walk together now."
"Alright, let’s go," Dhruva’s father said.
As they walked, Dhruva’s father handed them a packet of spicy corn sticks. "Are you both hungry? Here, share this."
Dhruva’s eyes widened. "Wow, Father, when did you get these? They’re my favorite!"
"It was a gift from Uncle Kandarpa," his father replied.
"Thanks, Uncle," Dhruva said, opening the packet. He offered some to Venisha. "Have some."
Venisha hesitated. "Are you sure? It’s a gift for you."
Dhruva smiled. "Yes, it’s my gift, so I can share it with whom I like. Please, enjoy."
Venisha accepted with a grateful smile. "Thank you."
As they continued walking, Venisha expressed her gratitude. "It was nice meeting you too, Dhruva. I’m so glad I found you. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise. Thank you for everything you and your father have done for me today."
Dhruva’s father asked them to wait for a moment while he bought a water bottle. After returning, he handed it to them. "Drink some water and clean your hands."
They did as instructed. When they arrived at Dhruva’s home, Venisha looked around in awe. "This is where you live? It’s beautiful. Are those cows? Wow!"
Dhruva responded, "Yes, I love this place. It’s peaceful and pretty."
Dhruva’s father said, "Stay here while I fetch my ride from the garage."
They agreed, and Dhruva asked Venisha, "How do you like the garden? Isn’t it beautiful?"
Venisha admired the scene. "It is beautiful. The butterflies add so much to the view. Is it your garden?"
Dhruva explained, "Not exactly. My father planted some of the plants, but we rent this place, so it isn’t ours."
Dhruva’s father soon returned with his bike. "Come on, Venisha, it’s time to go."
Dhruva held Venisha’s hand. "Take care, Venisha. I hope we meet again. Goodbye."
"Goodbye, Dhruva," Venisha said with a smile.
As Venisha got on the bike, Dhruva’s father reminded her, "Hold tight, little girl."
Just before they left, Venisha turned back and ran to Dhruva. "Wait, Uncle!"
Dhruva’s father asked, "Did you forget something?"
Venisha smiled and gave Dhruva a quick kiss on the cheek. "This."
Dhruva was taken aback, blushing. "Oh... Venisha..."
"We’ll meet again," she said, returning to her seat.
Dhruva’s father asked, "Are you ready now?"
Venisha replied, "Yes."
As they departed, Dhruva watched them leave, feeling an unusual emptiness.
