Episode Four

One month later.

Nian and Cheng stood at the entrance of soaring cloud pavilion, the sculpture on which was written ‘welcome to soaring cloud pavilion’ was a thing of beauty; one Nian took liking in immediately, he resolved to learn sculpturing if there was chance in the future.

“ here we are, soaring cloud pavilion, after almost a week journey” Nian said

“ at some point I was thinking we would not make it here alive, I'm sorry to have troubled you for our safety until getting here” lei Cheng answered behind him “those crazy sword techniques, did you make them by your self too?”

“ I was just lucky” Nian answered

On their way here; it had been quite troublesome, constantly attacked by bandits and cutthroats, they were not serious cultivators, if they were he was sure his sword techniques alone couldn't have saved them; anyways it did and he was grateful to coach for teaching him something of sort.

“you are weirdest person I've ever met” lei Cheng said.

“ you aren't half bad either” Nian answered.

At least Cheng'er covered for him during the fight and also played some vital roles too. He saw cheng'er blush at the flattery and he laughed inside.

Suddenly a voice boomed out of nowhere.

“Are you going to stand there all day!”

It jolted both Nian and Cheng'er as they realized the person was talking to them, they both entered and we're ushered to a very wide courtyard filled with people, the courtyard was already crowdy yet more people poured in, an endless stream of people; without exaggeration Nian knew it could contain at least a thousand people but now even he was beginning to doubt if this place would really contain them all if people continued to pour in at this rate, Nian surveyed the surroundings, it was indeed a first class sect, a very fine place, Nian admired the beauty of every thing, he also noticed something; the air it was denser than outside, it meant one thing; there was more qi energy here, as he breathed deeply and opened his meridians; he was shocked to know discover that the qi energy was purer in here too.

“ what now?” lei Cheng asked

He echoed the next thought on Nian's mind, were they going to stand here all day, this crowdy courtyard; was this where they would just stay. Finally after what felt like forever, someone came flying above them, Nian could not count how many hours had passed until this person came, by now the rate at which people poured in had decreased, Nian was mesmerized to see someone fly so freely; overpower gravity as if it were nothing, he was truly feeling like nothing was impossible in this world.

“i am elder Mo, eleventh elder of soaring cloud pavilion” his voice boomed out.

Nian squinted as he looked up and raised his hands to block the sun and at the same time take a view of this elder Mo of a person.

“GREETINGS SECT ELDER MO!” the whole people echoed.

“ I am in charge of this year's recruitment of candidates, this year's disciples selection will not be hard at all, I will say crossing over to outer disciples is no big deal we will just test your talents and only very few of you will be disappointed, perhaps a few hundreds” Elder Mo said

Nian swallowed at the thought of it; his heart pounded so hard that he could hear it's beat, what if he was not chosen, he prayed it was otherwise.

“ you have nothing to fear, you are a good talent, the sect just don't want to taken too much trashes” lei Cheng whispered to Nian.

Nian nodded, he hoped so.

“ your talent will define your status, either you are rejected or you become an ordinary outer disciple or you become a seeded outer disciple” Elder Mo said “ very soon a space void will be opened for you to enter; this is where you will be tested, good luck”.

Murmurs came up, how couldn't it; this place was so crowed any ways. lei Cheng had started talking to a boy beside him.

“ I know my talent is not bad, I will definitely be selected” the boy said

“ mine isn't so worse either” lei Cheng answered

They both giggled and laughed like girls, Nian almost felt irritated, it wasn't surprising though, lei Cheng had always been a talkative since he had known him but to think he would quickly find an accomplice wasn't very nice for Nian.

After about half an hour, something very big and black appeared affront, it looked more like a black mist or fog, Nian had seen something of this sort once before, infact not too long ago, ah yes he remembered, how could he not, it was when coach opened a teleporting portal for him to come to this world, that meant one thing; this was the space void. Space void, teleporting portal, they should have some relationships with each other, then they should look the same or nearly the same, his guess should be right.

“ the space void!” lei Cheng said, awe in his voice.

Nian was awe-stricken and moreover his guess was correct too, how couldn't it, he was an expert at predicting too.

“we are entering” Nian said

“sure, but after we enter we may be separated and sent to different places, if that is the case the we will meet in the sect after we are selected—”

“— if we are selected” the other boy chimed in.

Nian could see everyone getting tensed at the test of talents, he could feel it intensity.

“thats right” lei Cheng said and smiled

“we will definitely be selected” Nian said, confidence in his voice

Although Nian sounded with confidence but he heard still heard the fear hidden behind. Nian was not someone who counted his eggs before they hatch, he always considered the what ifs, like what if a mistake was made somewhere, what if somehow over the years his talent had diminished and had shrunk into nothingness, what if his constant breakthrough was truly only by luck, even if it wasn't, aptitude was different from talent, talent was what they checked on now not aptitude, this was a first class sect after all; so what if it was not super class, it didn't mean a first class would want to select a trash or fairly trash, they wouldn't want to waste precious resources on a waste - or fairly waste. What was fairly waste?, a waste is a waste; there is no need to sugarcoat anything. Worse was he couldn't get hold of any solution if things went wrong and didn't fall in place, he could only hope thing go well.

Nian entered the void and was met with utter blackness, his heart beating against his lungs as he knew the next moments would be very important, were vital moments in his life
