How?

Author POV
Jeongguk’s head pounded with the worst headache of his life. He rolled over, clutching his head in his hands. He could barely think. Was he having a stroke? He was too healthy and young for that, but it hurt that bad.
He was in too much pain to notice how different the bedding below him felt and barely registered the unfamiliar voices around him.
Someone
Someone
What's wrong with him?
asked a very tense voice.
Someone
Someone
I can see that the problem is his head, but I do not know what is causing it,
replied a nervous man.
Someone
Someone
Did he hit his head?
Someone
Someone
No. He was ill from a flu, but I kept his temperature down as you instructed.
The voice was sharp and indicated that the other man was being held responsible for this occurrence. Jeongguk didn't have a clue what these strangers were on about. Images and impressions from experiences he never had flashed in his mind. It was a jarring occurrence that reminded him a little of virtual reality. He was actually feeling what a little boy, whom he had never met, had felt.
After a seemingly long period of time, that was only minutes, Jeongguk’s excruciating headache died down. He panted and kept his eyes tightly closed. The two men began bickering and Jeongguk couldn't take it.
Kim Jeongguk
Kim Jeongguk
Can you please be quiet?
The two men were stunned, but not as stunned as Jeongguk was. Why did his voice sound like that? It was high pitched like a child's. Had he really been the one to speak?
Someone
Someone
Okay, cub. How is the pain?
asked one of the two men in a much softer voice.
Kim Jeongguk
Kim Jeongguk
'Cub? What was this stranger calling me? And didn't he agree to be quiet?’
Jeongguk grunted instead of giving a proper response. His headache may not be as overwhelming now, but it was still there.
When the stranger pestered him some more, Jeongguk finally told him that his head hurt. Of course, they could tell that much already. Jeongguk didn't know what else they were expecting.
Jeongguk chanced opening his eyes. The moment he tried, he was forced to shut them again. The light was too much for him right now.
The two men in the room whispered quietly to each other. Jeongguk was not impressed. He assumed something happened to him and he was in the hospital or a clinic. What surprised him was the lack of hospital smells. So he did not know what hospitals were supposed to smell like, but certainly not like dust and old leather.
Was an ambulance on its way to get him then? Or did these two men decide not to call one? And where was his friend and why did she leave Jeongguk with these men?
Jeongguk’s questions remained unanswered. He would have to learn for himself it seemed. After his headache ebbed, he tried opening his eyes again. It took him a moment to adjust to the light.
Nothing in his immediate sight looked familiar at all. His legs brushed against something soft as he tried to move them causing him to glance down. The bedding he was lying on... looked like authentic fur.
Jeongguk glanced around in shock. He was in an old, stone and brick home. Like really, really old. It didn't match. He was in a house-like structure that was straight out of the ancient times, while laying on some seriously expensive looking furs.
When his confused gaze met the two men in the room, he felt his eyebrows threaten to fly off his face. They were gorgeous, but both were dressed to match the ambiance. He was sure that he didn't know these beautiful men, but he also felt like he did. Were they actors? Did he stumble onto a set? That was troubling.
Hopefully, they don't give him a hard time for interrupting them. Jeongguk looked around for the rest of the crew, but couldn't find them. He didn't know exactly how movies were made, but he was certain they required more than just the actors. Jeongguk glanced out the open window hurriedly. The sight made him choke.
Feeling a surge of energy, Jeongguk felt like he had to confirm it. He got up suddenly and moved to the window, only to find that he couldn't reach it. He was short, but not that short. Putting that aside, he waved his hand out the window and met no resistance.
There was no optical paper there like he expected. The breeze blew his hair into his face, causing him to reach up and grab it. The strands were black and white. He caught the one white highlight that framed his face and tugged on it. Jeongguk felt the pain, but his brain didn't comprehend. While investigating the white highlight, Jeongguk noticed a hand. A small hand. He confirmed that it was indeed attached to his body, but it did nothing to settle his confusion.
Someone
Someone
What's wrong, cub? You need to rest.
said the serious actor. He abruptly picked him up, scaring him into striking at him.
After a short-lived tussle, Jeongguk couldn't help but shout at him.
Kim Jeongguk
Kim Jeongguk
Put me down! Who do you think you are?
Maybe he could've gone about that with better words, but Jeongguk was in a bit of a panic. A stranger was carrying him, his body was too small, and the outside looked like it was mostly forested. Something was very, very wrong.
The stranger's next words only confirmed that thought.
Someone
Someone
I'm your father, cub.
the stranger said with surprise lacing his voice. He turned to the other man in the room and his voice turned steely.
Someone
Someone
Healer, what is this?
The healer stuttered for a moment and eked out a response.
Someone
Someone
M-memory loss isn't especially rare and is usually temporary.
The man holding him turned back to Jeongguk who was still processing everything.
Someone
Someone
Do you not remember me?
Jeongguk came up with two potential responses to the psycho who thinks he's his father. He could pretend to know what's going on and blame the headache for everything for one. But the second approach he was thinking of sounded more realistic.
Jeongguk feigned amnesia since it was half true in a way.
Kim Jeongguk
Kim Jeongguk
I don't know who you are, who he is, or where I am.
Jeongguk didn't have to fake the confusion that was practically radiating off of him.
The two males exchanged looks, one was nervous and the other was severe.
Someone
Someone
Okay. We will take this slowly. Do you know your own name at least?
asked the man that claimed to be his father. Of course Jeongguk did, but he kept his mouth shut. But he wouldn’t provide him the information. Before he could figure out where he stood and if he was in danger after he spoke.
Someone
Someone
Jungkook. Your name is Jungkook.
he repeated to assure him.
Jeon Hajoon (alpha)
Jeon Hajoon (alpha)
I'm Hajoon, your father, and a fox beast male alpha. Your mother is In-ah, also a fox. This is the healer whose name is not important. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Jeongguk blinked...and blinked some more. Him name was familiar to him of course, but the rest was odd. He eyed the fluffy ears that were attached to Hajoon's head. They were placed slightly higher than human ears, but Jeongguk hadn't really focused on that at first. Hollywood could make some realistic props and use the makeup to support it.
That was what his logic told him when he saw the animal parts.
Since his 'father' was so close to him, he could see every little twitch and motion of the ears. There was no Hollywood explanation for that.
He did the the best thing he could think of in the moment; he reached up and grabbed them. Hajoon froze, but he let Jungkook touch his ears.
The fur was black and soft, but that wasn't what caught him off guard. They were warm and they were twitching. His logic told him that they were real, but at the same moment it also said that they couldn't be.
Having achieved what he needed to, Jeongguk dropped his hands.
Despite the unusual action, Hajoon continued,
Jeon Hajoon (alpha)
Jeon Hajoon (alpha)
This is your den and we live in the City of Gold that is run by the fox clan.
Jeongguk swallowed the lump in his throat.
Something clicked when he heard the name of the city.
Jeon Jungkook (omega)

A mirror; no, a tub of water.
Jeongguk felt his gut sinking. Just in case, Jeongguk pinched himself hard enough to bruise. Nothing happened.
The two males turned frantic and went to get the water. Once a large jug was placed in front of him, Jeongguk peered at the surface. His reflection wasn't very clear, but he could see a child staring back at him. A beautiful child.
The boy watched him in disbelief that mirrored his own feelings perfectly. Fuchsia eyes continued to stare at him from a face creased in a frown. His eyes were medium in size and slightly curved giving him a bit of a sharp look reminding Jungkook of his 'father.'
The boy's eyebrows were slim and dark, but well defined enough that raising his eyebrow would give his expressions more impact. It reminded Jeongguk of his mom, his actual mom.
The similarities to his mom ended there.
His nose was straight instead of flat like it should've been had this been Jeongguk's actual reflection as a child. It was medium as opposed to small. His lips were thin, but a rich natural pink that made it look like he was wearing product. His mouth was neither wide nor small and his cheekbones seemed to be neither high nor low. The overall face of this child was oval and he had his own pair of long, fluffy, black ears stuck to the side of his head.
Jeongguk watched the boy in the reflection raise his hand as he was doing. Perhaps his denial was too strong because Jeongguk flinched when he actually felt the contact as he touched 'his' ears. No matter where he touched, he felt it.
The ears were not fake.
He couldn't help but notice the hair which was in exact likeness to Hajoon's aside from length. It fell almost to his shoulders and was predominantly black and slightly wavy. A single white highlight framed the left side of his face.
Peeling his eyes away from the water's surface, Jeongguk checked his backside. Sure enough, a fluffy, black tail with a white tip was very much attached to him. He touched, pulled at, and assessed it with fascination. Feeling curious, Jeongguk tried to move it. It swished to one side before falling. He did it again, then again, and again.
The two males watched with increasing worry. They were expecting different reactions.
Tears perhaps, angry shouting maybe, or even full on tantrum throwing, but not this. They exchanged looks once again, but neither spoke.
After assessing his body several more times, Jeongguk came to accept it. Not entirely of course, but he accepted that it wasn't going to change just because he blinked or took deep breaths.
When his stomach started growling, the two men left to get him food in a hurry.
He wasn't in the mood to eat, but his stomach disagreed. He checked that the meat they brought for him was cooked and ate what was given to him. Jungkook almost swallowed it at once. The gamey meat shouldn't have tasted that good to him, but it did.
Jungkook decided not to think too hard about the fact that he was accepting food from strangers.
Food was food and he would need it to deal with this situation.

Thank you.
he managed to express his gratitude in between bites. His parents ingrained manners in him and it wasn't something he consciously thought about.
Unfortunately, he forgot to consider where he was for a minute. The two men, make that males, looked at him funny. Jeongguk decided to ignore it and play it off.
The situation he was in was becoming clearer. Now his mind just had to wrap itself around it. Had to wrap itsell around it.
Jeongguk spent the rest of the day in a state of shock. He knew it was shock since he was taking things a lot better than he should be.
Considering that Jeongguk just reread this novel, he was pretty sure he was stuck in it as the antagonist of the first arc; the villain with his name.
Hajoon and the unnamed doctor monitored him all day and Jeongguk had to try hard to ignore them. He understood where he was, but not how he got here. He had read plenty of novels that had situations like this, but that didn't make him feel better.
What was he doing right before he came here? He had gone to hang out with his friend. He couldn't have died right? He hoped not, but what other explanation could he come up with?
Jeongguk was going to stay awake and think about it since not knowing was bothering him.
But his little body was exhausted and it denied his plans. He drifted off to sleep while lying on the furs that made up 'his' bed.
