Chapter 5: Sleepover Wars

CHAPTER FIVE: Sleepover Wars

Rules: No kissing. Just cuddles. (Elvis’ orders.)

Reality: Four love-crazed boys pretending they know what “just cuddles” means.

It all started with a text from Elvis.

“If you guys promise to behave… you can sleep over this weekend. Just cuddles!! Okay!?”

In under two minutes, the four boys had replied:

Lucas: I’ll bring a calming chamomile tea and a bedtime story, my sunshine.

Thompson: Bet. Dibs on cuddling first.

Jake: CUUUUUTE SLEEPOVER AHHH—BRB GETTING MATCHING SOCKS!!!

August: Understood. I will bring earplugs in case Thompson snores.

SATURDAY, 8:01 PM — Elvis’ Dorm

The moment the door opened, Elvis regretted everything.

Lucas walked in first, carrying a travel-size tea set and a neatly folded silk robe.

Thompson followed, dragging a huge beanbag chair with a possessive glare at the others.

Jake bounced in with a duffel bag that jingled—because it was full of plushies.

August was last, quiet as a shadow, holding a velvet pouch containing... Elvis didn't know what yet, but it scared him.

Elvis blinked at all of them in oversized pajamas. “Uhm… guys?”

“Yes, sweet thing?” Thompson drawled, already unrolling a mini mattress.

“I only have one bed.”

They all paused.

“…I’ll sleep on the floor,” August said politely.

“No, I will,” Lucas insisted. “I’m used to firm surfaces from gymnastics.”

“I will not let any of you get closer to his bed than me,” Thompson snapped.

Jake hugged a plush koala. “I thought we were gonna cuddle together…”

All four turned to Elvis.

He tugged on his bunny-printed pajama top. “Uhm… we can all sleep together… if you don’t fight?”

They nodded in unison.

Big mistake.

10:27 PM — Lights Out

The bed was crowded. Ridiculously crowded.

Elvis lay in the center, blanket up to his chin, eyes wide like a nervous rabbit.

To his immediate right, Lucas spooned him with gentle, protective arms and the faint scent of herbal tea in his hair.

To the left, Jake clung like a heat-seeking koala, mumbling soft “Snugglebug~” sounds in his sleep.

By their feet, August had claimed the end of the bed like a quiet cat, resting his hand lightly on Elvis’s ankle under the blanket.

On a pile of pillows beside Elvis’s head, Thompson lay like a guard dog, one arm stretched over everyone to rest on Elvis’s waist.

“I’m not a human sandwich,” Elvis whispered, face buried in Lucas’s shirt.

“Yes, you are,” Jake replied sleepily. “You’re the best filling ever…”

“I will murder you in your sleep,” Thompson hissed.

“Be quiet,” August murmured. “You’re vibrating the bed.”

Lucas sighed. “Let’s all breathe and let Elvis rest.”

Elvis groaned into his pillow. “This is not cuddling. This is… is plushie warfare!”

Jake whimpered. “But I brought plushies…”

---

MIDNIGHT — ROUND ONE: PILLOW WARFARE

It started when Thompson tried to roll closer and knocked Jake halfway off the bed. Jake retaliated by launching a plush bear at his face.

Lucas blocked the bear with a pillow. “Control yourselves.”

August sat up slowly, glasses askew. “If you start a pillow fight, I will engage.”

Two seconds later, Elvis was buried under a full-on pillow avalanche.

“MY EAR—!”

“YOU STUFFED MY SHIRT WITH STUFFING—!”

“THAT WAS MY PLUSH PANDA—!”

“YOU HIT ELVIS—”

Silence.

They all froze. Elvis poked his head out of the pillow pile, hair sticking up, blinking.

“I think… I inhaled a button…”

“...I'm sorry, baby,” all four said at once.

---

12:37 AM — ROUND TWO: CUDDLE CHESS

August, calculating, attempted to switch spots with Jake under the guise of “blanket redistribution.” Jake, suspicious, pretended to be asleep—only to accidentally headbutt Lucas when Elvis shifted.

Thompson, meanwhile, kept sneakily inching his leg up Elvis’s thigh. Lucas countered with a protective arm around Elvis’s middle. August responded by fixing Elvis’s bangs. Jake started playing with his ears.

Elvis made a sound like a boiling kettle.

“S-STOP TOUCHING ME AT THE SAME TIME—!”

---

1:10 AM — FINAL FORMATION: HUMAN PRINCE BLANKET

Exhausted, sore, and emotionally destroyed, all four boys eventually collapsed.

Elvis, sandwiched horizontally across the bed like a burrito, blinked up at the ceiling, every inch of him tangled in muscle, flannel, and boy smell.

Thompson’s head was on his stomach.

Jake’s arms wrapped his legs.

Lucas’s chest supported his back.

August’s hand rested against his cheek.

He sighed.

“…This is nice.”

Four content hums echoed in the dark.

“I can’t feel my arms,” Elvis added.

“Makes it harder to escape,” Thompson mumbled.

“Shut up,” August said fondly.

Lucas pressed a kiss to Elvis’s temple.

Jake whispered, “Best night everrr…”

Elvis closed his eyes, smile blooming across his lips.

Maybe four boyfriends was a little insane.

But it sure felt warm.
