THE STORY OF TONIA

Hello once again me friends 👋. Have you ever heard a Nigerian tale about natural elemental beings? Well, this is one of those stories. It went like this.

Once upon a time, there lived a lovely happy married couple. This couple had a baby girl whose name was Tonia, Tonia Black. Tonia's mother was a complete housewife, and her father, a full responsible man. As if the Heavens had not finished blessing them, the birth of their daughter brought greater joy to them.

Unfortunately, such a joy did not last for long as agony knocked upon their doors one peaceful day. While Mr Black was away for business, Tonia and her mother were at home as usual. However, for no reason, Tonia became agitated and began to wail. Of course, as every true mother would be so worried to hear her child cry in such a manner, so also was Mrs Black. As she hastily hurried to check on Tonia, she slipped on water on the floor, suffering a great blood loss. By the time the neighbors got into the house to see the reason for dear Tonia's weeping, Mrs Black was already laying on the floor, found dead.

When Mr Black got home, his sorrow was more then his joy. He was so sorrowful that if it wasn't for his beloved daughter, he would have committed suicide, so as to unite with his love in the Afterlife. The loving father had to take care of Tonia still a certain age all by himself. Later on, on the third year of Tonia's life, Mr Black remarried for the sake of Tonia.

His new wife, Mrs Kainene Black, was a responsible motherly woman. She adored Tonia as if Tonia was her birth child. They lived happily, for some time that is.

How? Why? Well you see, when Tonia was eight years old, Mrs Black birthed a cute female child for Mr Black. During this period, it seemed as if her affectionate had started to drift away from Tonia slowly. Nevertheless, Lola (Tonia's little sister) grew to disrespect and maltreat Tonia under the eyes of Mrs Kainene. The household torture went on for years, Mr Black on his own part wasn't aware of such indiscipline and injustice going on under his roof. And innocent Tonia was too afraid to report this to her father for she feared the wrath of her steps.

"A dirty motherless maid!" That was what Tonia was always referred as by unfriendly people and certain haters of unknown reasons.

And as if their torment on Tonia wasn't enough, one particular day of the month March, Nasty Lola was fighting with Tonia, and our dear girl not wanting to lose an eye by her Beasty Sister had to fight back. However with just a little, JUST A LITTLE PUSH I say, Lola began to yell out.

Ah! Ah! My chest oo! My chest hurts o. Mama come ooo, Dirty Tonia wants to kill me!!" Said pretentious Lola whose hand pressed against her own chest.
