Chapter no. :3 "The Letter in the Rain"

Suddenly,Ami realized her mama was waiting for her. She quickly stood up, Suddenly at the old lady, and said, “Take care... and never lose hope.” With that, she hurried off.

As she stepped outside, raindrops began to fall—again. “Oh no, not now,” she muttered. This time, she couldn't afford to wait. She ran all the way home, getting completely soaked in the downpour.

The next morning, Ami woke up with a fever. The rain had taken its toll, and she remained sick for an entire week.

When she finally recovered, she returned to college, ready to catch up. That day, her lecturer suggested some books that would be helpful for their upcoming exams. Ami went to the library with her friends, and they all sat together, searching through the shelves and making notes.

As time passed, one by one, her friends began to leave. Ami stayed behind, still scribbling in her notebook—she had missed seven days of lectures and needed to make up for all the lost work.

Hours later, a gentle voice interrupted her focus. It was the library assistant. “Excuse me, it's time to close.”

Only then did Ami look up and notice how dark it had become outside. She quickly gathered her things and began to leave.

Just as she reached the door, someone called from behind, “Hi, Ami!”

She turned around. It was Lona, the manager of the library.

They smiled and greeted each other. “Hi!” “Hello!”

Luna and Ami were good friends because Ami always came to the library, and that’s how they met. Over time, they had developed a strong bond. One day, Luna said to Ami, “I’ve noticed you haven’t come here for a whole week. Is everything okay?”

Ami smiled softly and replied, “Actually, I was sick, so I couldn’t come to the library.”

“Are you feeling better now?” Luna asked with concern.

“Yes, I’m fine now. How about you?” Ami answered.

“I’m doing well, thanks. Wait, I have something for you.” Luna walked over to a drawer, grabbed a letter, and handed it to Ami.

“This letter is for you,” Luna said.

“For me?” Ami asked, surprised.

“Yes. An middle-aged man —gave it to me to pass on to you,” Luna explained.

Ami took the letter, and they said goodbye. Ami left the library and arrived home late that night.

She continued studying for her upcoming exams. As she focused on her books, her thoughts drifted to the letter Luna had given her. For a while, she forgot about it entirely.

Suddenly, she noticed her bag from the library and remembered the letter. She quickly pulled it out and opened it.

The letter was from Theo, the middle-aged man she had met at the library a week ago. At that moment, she realized he was the person who had borrowed her novel that day.

She read the letter carefully:

---

Hi Ami,

I read your novel. It’s amazing how you express . You are so creative. I really like your work—the way you write freely and your unique thoughts are excellent.

I want you to come here so I can return the novel you wrote. I wanted to give it back to you the same day, but you didn’t come. I don’t know your address or much about you—only your name and the art you create.

I waited the next day at the same time, but you didn’t come then either. I understand you must have had important things to do.

Anyway, I have some good news for you about your writing.

I’ve written my address and contact number below, and I’m waiting for your call.

Your good wisher,

Theo

After reading the letter twice, Ami felt a bit disturbed. She didn’t quite understand what it all meant.

Just then, her mother walked into the room, holding a cup of coffee. She looked at Ami and said firmly, “Listen to me. Your exams start in just two days. You need to focus completely on your preparation. I want you to give your best and not get distracted by anything else.”

She sat beside Ami and continued, “You have to build the life you truly deserve. And for that, you need to work hard and earn the scholarship for your further studies. Okay? Do you understand, Ami?”

Ami nodded slowly. “Yes, Mama.”

Her mother smiled gently and stood up. “Alright then. I’ll leave you to your studies. Stay focused on your goals.”

Ami replied, “Yes, I’ll do exactly as you said.”
