Chapter Four – Scars in Silk

Sienna’s hands trembled as she stood by the grand windows, the city lights casting long shadows across the luxurious apartment. The soft silk of her gown slid against her skin like liquid, but beneath it, her body was anything but calm. Her thoughts were a storm—chaotic, dark, and dangerous.

Colson’s presence still loomed over her, even as she fought to regain her composure. The night had taken a turn she hadn't been prepared for, and now, she felt as though she was walking a tightrope. One wrong move and she'd fall into the abyss.

Her gaze shifted to the polished mirror across the room, her reflection staring back at her—a woman who seemed so put together, yet beneath the silk and diamonds, she could feel the rawness of her own vulnerability. The scars she had hidden for so long, deep within her, seemed to ache all over again. But these scars weren’t the ones you could see. They were the ones that festered in the dark corners of her mind.

"Sienna."

The deep, velvet timbre of Colson’s voice broke through the quiet tension, sending a ripple of anticipation through her. She didn’t have to turn to know he was standing just behind her, that unshakable force that had somehow become a permanent fixture in her life. His presence was a weight on her chest, a reminder of how dangerous this dance between them was.

"I know you're trying to fight it," he continued, his voice just low enough to be dangerous. "But you're already in this, whether you admit it or not."

His words hit her like a wave, pulling her under. She wanted to resist—wanted to maintain some shred of control—but she knew it was futile. The way he looked at her made it clear that he knew all of her weaknesses. All the things she tried to keep hidden, buried beneath layers of silk and lies.

"I’m not ready for this," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Colson’s lips curled into a knowing smile, his hand gently brushing the curve of her shoulder. She could feel the heat of his touch, sending electric sparks through her body.

"You don't need to be ready," he replied, his voice a dangerous caress. "You’ll never be ready. But that’s what makes it exciting."

Sienna felt her breath hitch in her throat. Every inch of her screamed to pull away, to flee from the undeniable pull between them. But the part of her that was drawn to him, the part she had tried so hard to suppress, refused to let her.

His hand slid down her arm, the warmth of his fingers leaving a trail of fire in their wake. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the feelings that swirled within her, the storm of lust, fear, and need that threatened to overwhelm her.

"Look at me, Sienna," Colson commanded softly.

Reluctantly, she turned to face him, her heart pounding in her chest. His gaze locked onto hers, unwavering, as if he could see every corner of her soul.

"You think you can outrun this?" he murmured, his voice a low growl that sent shivers down her spine. "You can’t. Not with me."

His words were a warning and a promise, both wrapped in the same breath. And as Sienna stood there, feeling as though her world was slipping away, she realized that the game had already begun. She had stepped into his world, and now, there was no turning back.

"I don’t want to be controlled," she whispered, the words slipping from her lips before she could stop them.

Colson’s smile deepened, and in his eyes, there was a flicker of something darker. "Too bad, sweetheart. You’re already mine."

Her heart raced, but even as she tried to pull away, something deep inside her knew that she had already given him a piece of herself—one that she could never get back.
