Episode 4

The days blurred into an unrelenting monotony since the truth about iGnar came to light, forcing me to break our bond. Each day felt identical to the previous, to the point of believing that monotony was the worst of my evils. Naive me. Life, the gods, fate - whoever enjoys my suffering - showed me how wrong I was. A month after the rejection, iGnar burst into my room, like a spectral shadow, not giving me time to even defend myself and try to flee from his clutches. A stifled scream was my only defense before being dragged through a portal of dark magic. I landed abruptly in what appeared to be a house, but the nauseating stench emanating from the place turned my stomach with an almost unbearable violence.

The words of iGnar, dark and possessive at the same time, floated in the air - Welcome to your new home, my sweet Zoe. A nauseating lurch reminded me of how upset my stomach already is, now multiplied by his presence.

"I order you to release me, Ignar." I said, striving for my voice not to betray the hurricane of fear that shakes me. The mention of my brother is my only weapon, my last shield.

"Not even dust will remain of you if he finds you." I want to appear brave, unbreakable, but his eyes injected with an ice-cold malice freeze me to the bone. I saw him approach, a threatening shadow, and the terror became physical when his rough hand imprisoned my face. The sharp pain tore a stifled groan from me.

"Your brother will never find you, my Zoe." iGnar sentenced. His certainty froze my blood, instilling a terror that surpasses my initial fear.

"Do you think that the month of silence, in which I did not reclaim what is mine, did not prepare me so that not even the great and perfect king of the mages can find you?" His determination, palpable as the pressure of his fingers on my cheek, unleashed a whirlwind of terror inside me. I felt at the mercy of a shadow older than the night, imbued with an evil that suffocates any glimmer of hope. The idea that my brother cannot find me, added to my own inability to defend myself from his dark intentions, plunged me into an suffocating despair, despite my own magic.

Little did I imagine that my true torment had only just begun. The brute force of iGnar dragged me mercilessly towards a dark shed. In a vain attempt to free myself, I invoked my magic, but he, with a shadowy trick created in pure darkness, completely nullified it. Suddenly, my shield broke, making me human, defenseless against his cruelty. The shed became my prison the instant the cold irons of shackles and chains closed on me. How blind I was to believe that love could redeem his dark soul, my supposed soulmate! My hope that he would defy his heritage, demonstrating that darkness is a conscious choice, was shattered. Too late I understood that iGnar not only inherited the darkness, but embraces it with fervor.

The ordeal of each day surpassed the torture of the previous one, until that moment of false relief arrived, only for iGnar, with his boundless cruelty, to shatter it. Darkness thickens inside me with each young woman he brings by force, their eyes reflecting the same terror that I feel when I see myself chained. But they are worse off than me, because they are profaned before me, turned into the twisted fun of iGnar, who savors every moment of their violation, forcing me to inhale their tears, to hear their silenced pleas. A parade of broken souls, as he himself defined them. When the resistance broke, when hope was extinguished in their eyes, iGnar discards them in the Forest of Lost Souls, a place where the echo of their suffering becomes the feast of his death.

The atrocities are stuck in my eyes: young humans stripped of their vital breath, souls breaking under the weight of pain, suffering, abuse and rape. Unable to bear such horror, surrender became a sweet relief. Longing for the end, to reunite with those shattered souls in the gloomy forest of lost souls. But iGnar, with his cruelty always exceeding his own limits, delighted in my pathetic attempt to escape his clutches.

"You are not going to die, my sweet Zoe. You will live as long as I decree it, and even if you yearn for eternal oblivion, I will tear you from the jaws of death if necessary." The voice of iGnar, rough and laden with a dark power, resonated after the brutal electric shock that brought me back to this side. I thought I had found peace, finally freed in the cold kiss of death. But not even she wanted me, because the damned iGnar, with his merciless discharges, shattered my longing to disappear. Frustration suffocates me when I see that even death is denied to me.

"Your near death, my sweet Zoe." iGnar hissed, the coldness of his words like splinters of ice piercing my being.

"Has given me invaluable material to send to your beloved family, especially to your perfect king of the mages. Ah, the delight on their faces when contemplating their precious daughter degraded to being less than scum! Her nakedness dressed in nothingness itself, impregnated with the sweet and nauseating aroma of her own filth." A pause laden with poison extended.

"They will see what I want them to see: your lifeless body, wallowing in the dirt. They will suffer when they understand their impotence to protect you from me, to prevent this fate. But, my dear Zoe." He continued with a chilling smile.

"Although their eyes cry for you as dead, you will continue to breathe, beating, until I decide. Until my sweet whim needs it. So prepare yourself, my love, because this is until death do us part, as naive humans swear in their weddings... or until I simply get bored of you." The words of iGnar, devoid of warmth and overflowing with an glacial cruelty, barely scratched the surface of my numbness. But upon hearing the name of my family, upon understanding the vileness of his plan, a wave of incandescent rage and a piercing pain pierced me. I cannot allow them to suffer because of me. They do not deserve to bear the weight of my mistake, of my naive belief that the bond of soulmates and love could redeem a man whose darkness is as deep as his own entrails.
