I'LL TELL YOU WHAT I KNOW

The sun-kissed field behind a sprawling ranch-style home, with its weathered wooden siding and rusty metal roof, was their playground, where David, or 2 Guns as he'd later become known, and his sister Rachel, aka Dagger, would spend hours chasing each other, laughing and carefree. The house, surrounded by tall trees and overgrown bushes, seemed to blend seamlessly into the rolling hills beyond. Their little brother, Baby, with his mop of curly hair, would toddle after them, giggling and trying to keep up.

Their father, 1 Bullet, or Mr. Marshall, was out, leaving their mother, Katana, or Mrs. Marshall, to cook lunch in the kitchen. The aroma of sizzling vegetables and spices wafted through the air, making Rachel and David's stomachs growl with anticipation. Baby, ever the curious one, was more interested in exploring the outdoors than waiting for lunch.

As Baby toddled closer to the bushes, Rachel and David called out to him, laughing and teasing him about getting dirty. "Baby, come back here! You're going to get covered in bugs!" Rachel shouted, giggling.

David chimed in, "Yeah, and Mom will have to give you a bath!"

But Baby didn't seem to care. He kept moving closer to the bushes, his little hands reaching out to touch the leaves. Rachel and David exchanged a look, still smiling, but their expressions began to fade as they noticed Baby's fascination with the bushes.

Suddenly, Baby's eyes locked onto something in the bushes. His face lit up with curiosity, and he took another step forward. Rachel and David's smiles faltered, their voices dying on their lips.

"Baby, no!" Rachel whispered, her voice tinged with unease.

David's eyes scanned the bushes, his instincts on high alert. "Baby, come back!" he called out, his voice low and urgent.

But Baby didn't respond. He was transfixed by something in the bushes. And then, everything seemed to slow down...

Dagger's eyes snapped open, and she gasped, her chest heaving as she sat up with a start. She looked around, disoriented, before realizing she was behind the wheel of the moving truck. She rubbed her eyes, wiping away tears. "Crap, I cried in my sleep. Guess I'm weak now. Can't even control my emotions," she muttered, her voice laced with frustration and a hint of disgust.

She took a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering fear and sadness. "Great, just what I needed. A good cry and a wake-up call to reality. Zombies aren't the only thing I'm running from, huh?" she quipped, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

As she glanced in the rearview mirror, she caught a glimpse of her reflection. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and her face was streaked with tears. "Ugh! Now I look like I've been through a war. Just peachy," she said, rolling her eyes.

As the truck rumbled down the deserted road, Dagger's gaze drifted back to the road ahead, her mind still reeling from the nightmare she'd just woken up from. Suddenly, something landed on the roof of the truck with a thud. She froze, her eyes darting to the rearview mirror. She tried to get a glimpse of what was on the roof, but all she saw was a shadowy figure and the glint of a gun. Before she could even process what was happening, the gun fired, shattering the rearview mirror into a thousand pieces.

Dagger's heart skipped a beat as she ducked down, her instincts kicking in. "What the...?" she muttered, her eyes scanning the dashboard for any signs of damage. She gripped the steering wheel tightly, her mind racing with possibilities. Who was this? Friend or foe?

She slowly peeked over the dashboard, trying to get a glimpse of the figure on the roof. But the windshield was intact, and she couldn't see anyone. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of her own ragged breathing.

A voice called out from the roof, "Dagger, we need to talk." The voice was low and gravelly, and it sent a shiver down her spine.

Suddenly, she realized who the person was. The voice, the swagger, it all screamed one person: 2 Guns, her annoyingly talented brother. Dagger's eyes narrowed as she tried to process how he'd managed to sneak up on her, and more importantly, how he'd escaped the clutches of their "friends" who had knives at their necks.

"What the...? How did you get away from there?" Dagger muttered, her voice barely audible over the sound of the engine. She glanced up at the roof, expecting to see 2 Guns peering down at her with that cocky grin of his.

"Hey, sis," 2 Guns called out, his voice dripping with amusement. "You know me, I'm a professional."

Dagger rolled her eyes, despite the hint of relief that crept into her chest. At least it was 2 Guns, and not some unknown threat. But her relief was short-lived, replaced by a growing sense of unease. What was 2 Guns doing here? And how did he find her?

"Great timing, 2," Dagger said, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Just what I needed. You showing up to make my day complete. Now, are you going to get down from there, or do I have to drive into a wall to shake you off?"

The truck rumbled on, the silence that followed heavy with unspoken questions and impending danger. And then, just as Dagger thought 2 Guns would respond, the sound of tires screeching echoed through the air...
