AURA OF REBELLION

Eira walked briskly down the winding path, her basket of fresh produce swaying gently in her hand. As she approached the cottage, a sense of unease crept over her. Something felt off.

She slowed her pace, scanning the surroundings. The trees seemed to loom over her, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. Eira's heart quickened as she noticed the front door was slightly ajar.

Without hesitation, she darted behind a nearby bush, her eyes fixed on the cottage. She peeked through the window, her breath catching in her throat.

Thorne knelt on the floor, flanked by two hooded figures. Their auras seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, making Eira's skin crawl. She gripped her dagger tightly, ready to act.

Just as she was about to make a move, a voice behind her said, "Beautiful, I see you're still having a great day."

Eira spun around, dagger flashing in the sunlight. Kael yelped as the blade bit into his arm, but Eira quickly covered his mouth. "Shh, Kael. Don't make a sound."

The hooded figures inside the cottage stirred, one of them stepping out into the yard. Eira caught a glimpse of his face – angular features, piercing eyes.

He seemed uneasy, glancing around before retreating back into the cottage. 'Let us depart from this place, my brother,' he whispered urgently to the other hooded figure, his voice low and gravelly. 'The Seer's secrets shall remain unspoken.'

Kael mumbled something against Eira's hand, but she kept her grip firm. Inside the cottage, the tension escalated. The second hooded figure drew a sword, its blade glowing with an eerie, pulsing light that seemed to sear the very air around it. The sword's edge shimmered like molten lava, casting an otherworldly glow on Thorne's face.

As the blade touched his skin, Thorne's body began to writhe in agony. The sword's glow seemed to burn with an inner fire, searing Thorne's flesh like a branding iron. His skin blistered and charred, the smell of charred meat wafting through the air. Thorne's face contorted in pain, his eyes bulging as he struggled to maintain his composure.

"Oh! Eira, Thorne's not a crippled man... He's just a total wash-up, but hey, at least he's not missing a limb," Kael whispered, his voice barely audible, but still manage to sound obnoxious. "Sorry, not sorry, for calling him a crippled old dude... I mean, it's not like he's gonna stand up and protect himself anytime soon, 2000% loser material."

Eira's gaze remained fixed on the cottage, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. She was oblivious to Kael's rude remarks, her mind consumed by the desperation unfolding before her. The hooded figure with the sword seemed hell-bent on extracting information from Thorne, and Eira's heart ached with helplessness. As the blade glowed brighter, Thorne's cries grew louder, and Eira's grip on her dagger tightened until her knuckles turned white. She knew she had to act, but fear and doubt paralyzed her.

Kael's voice finally pierced through her trance, his tone softening slightly as he noticed Eira's quivering lip. "Hey, Eira, are you... okay?" he asked, his words hesitant, as if unsure how to react to the tears welling up in her eyes.
