The next morning arrives very quickly; the young woman's eyes crinkle as the flashes of sunlight hit her face.
She gets up with a deep sigh and feels that today is the first day of her entire life. The memories of the old Aurora are becoming more and more distant; it's no longer just a few things, now she remembers even her childhood.
She decides that today she must take out all those clothes and make them disappear. "Bad taste" would not be the word to define why the other girl bought them.
Once she cleans herself, she heads to the disastrous closet and begins to decide what she can wear. There are things so colorful and bright that they even hurt her eyes, then she sighs.
"But how could you choose something so hideous?" She leaves her room already dressed in a fuchsia jumpsuit that has large colorful roses and small shiny crystals. It ties at the neck and, although it highlights her body, it is truly horrible, but everything else looked like costumes.
She goes downstairs with a smile more mocking than cordial.
"Good morning, daughter, what's so funny?" Her mother approaches and greets her with kisses on the cheeks.
"I don't know how you can let me pollute the vision of others with this." One of the girls can't stand it and bursts out laughing, then apologizes.
"I'm sorry, miss." Aurora denies, laughing.
"Don't worry, it's horrible and I should not forgive you for not having burned them in secret," she says, being careful not to utter words from another decade.
"Well, let's have breakfast and then we'll undo that evil." She and Aurora's father share the table again and they couldn't feel happier. Aurora observes the scene and sighs. She finally has what she asked for: a family. And, although she feels sadness for the other girl, she can't do anything to revive her.
Breakfast ends and the three leave at the same time, but her father deviates to his work and they continue in the other car to the mall.
The young woman observes the luxurious car; according to her memories, it is an Audi. She is surprised by how much everything has advanced, but then she gets distracted talking to her mother, whom she already felt like her own.
Upon arriving at the mall, they both get out laughing, and Aurora's eyes observe everything with astonishment, not only the places, but the amount of clothes in the windows: beautiful models waiting to be bought, by her, of course.
"Come on, honey." Her mother takes her to the Rosetti store, one of the largest. A woman in her thirties receives them with a beautiful smile.
"Mrs. Rossetti, Miss Rossetti, welcome, come this way." They are directed to where the most exclusive models are. Aurora's body tingles with emotion; her imagination flies.
"Oh my God, everything is beautiful!" She walks around while choosing: pleated pants, lace tops, silk shirts, dresses, turtlenecks and dresses of all kinds.
"What do you think, Mom?" Her mother, Aura Rossetti, smiles excitedly.
"It seems to me that, finally, my girl awakened her good taste." The two choose several garments and then go to the dressing rooms. Each set is more beautiful than the last. There is elegance and modernity in what she wears, they are not the dresses of before or the pants she used to wear. They are even better, more comfortable and lighter, without so much fabric or linings and, much less, corsets that cut off her breath.
"Everything looks beautiful on you, daughter." Aurora chooses everything she needs, then it's the turn of the jewelry and shoes. In the end, it was the turn of lingerie.
The laughter is endless due to how minimal each garment is and thus they end a wonderful day of shopping between mother and daughter.
Once they arrive at the mansion, they decide to have a movie day. The soft sound of the air conditioning fills the environment, while her mother caresses her hair tenderly, observing the large screen that illuminates the room. Aurora feels welcomed in that space, enjoying those beautiful and unique moments. This time, she wears one of the new outfits: a beautiful cotton pajama, soft to the touch and perfect for a day of relaxation. She settles on the sofa, feeling the softness of the fabric against her skin as she spends hours watching movies with her mother.
Time seems to stop between laughter and talks, but the next day, reality calls her. It's time to return to college. Although she still has fresh the memory of the warmth of her home, she knows that she may cross paths with the harpy Sabrina. A feeling of determination runs through her; she is ready for anything.
Aurora crosses the doors of the university with a calm she has not felt before. She wears a light brown wool sweater, it is long-sleeved and leaves her shoulders bare making her look sensual, but not vulgar. The skirt is short and pleated brown like her boots, she wears black pantyhose and a small gold necklace with a beautiful charm, a thin belt rests on her waist giving the final touch.
Aurora's Outfit.
Each step she takes is sure and exudes elegance. Despite not being used to it, she knows that she must adapt, and according to her mother's advice, this is how they dress now. Nobody recognizes her. Her hair is loose and she wears subtle makeup that highlights her beautiful bluish-gray eyes.
The murmurs begin to rise like a collective whisper. Some turn to observe her, but she, with her head held high, ignores them. Her steps resonate firmly on the ground, as if the world were hers.
Suddenly, a familiar whisper cuts through the atmosphere.
"Aurora?"
She stops her march for an instant, then turns slowly. Her gaze is cold, distant.
"Excuse me, do we know each other?" she asks, without a hint of doubt in her voice, as if she really had no idea who she is.
Sabrina looks at her, disconcerted, her brow slightly furrowed, she can't believe that, instead of being dead, she is so different.
"What do you mean if we know each other?" she says, with disbelief, taking a step towards her, but Aurora is unmoved.
"I don't remember seeing you before," she replies, her tone firm, but elegant, leaving no room for discussion, but looking at her as if she were insignificant.
And, without more, she turns around and continues on her way, leaving Sabrina behind, who remains there, with her mouth ajar and her mind stunned.
The murmurs intensify, but now they are not mocking, but of astonishment. Those who know her begin to look at her with different eyes. Her gestures, previously distracted and disordered, are now soft, measured, full of an unexpected grace. Her language, precise and refined, leaves a deep impression on those who listen to her. Her bearing, elegant and confident, seems to carry an interesting story behind.
Aurora is not the same. Little by little, the real Aurora Rossetti is reborn before everyone's eyes.
That day leaves many speechless not only for ignoring Sabrina, but for how she behaves in each class. Even people who never spoke to her did so today, and with only a few words they realize that she is not as they have painted her.
Aurora.
