The waking up to noise

*Asher slowly opens his eyes. A silk canopy. Dark velvet walls. Cold metal around his neck.*

Asher

(thinking): Where… am I?

*He tugs at the collar around his neck.*

Asher

Seriously? A collar?

*A door creaks open. Ira steps in, calm and composed as ever*

Ira

You’re awake. Good. It’s feeding time.

*Ira unlocks the cage door and approaches slowly.*

Ira

(gently): Relax. I didn’t say you had to bleed... much.

Asher

Great. That’s totally reassuring.

*Ira brushes Asher’s hair aside, tilting his head to the side.*

Ira

(softly): Hold still. I don’t want to ruin that pretty skin—

*Suddenly—SCREAMS echo down the hallway.*

Amaya

(screaming): WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM!?

Silas

(offended): YOUR ROOM?! This is MY room, you crazy girl!!

Amaya

(dramatic gasp): How dare you— You break into a lady’s private room chamber!?

Silas

(groaning): WHY IS SHE THROWING PILLOWS AT ME!?

Asher

(snorting): Pfft…

Ira

(raising a brow): What’s so funny?

Asher

(grinning): That was my friend. She’s gonna give that vampire a migraine by bedtime.

*More screaming in the distance. A crash. Possibly a vase.*

Amaya

(shouting): I DEMAND BREAKFAST AND CANDLES!

Silas

SOMEONE COME GET HER!!

Asher

(laughing): She thinks she’s still in her house.

*Asher tries to pull away, but Ira’s grip is firm. Cold. Unshakable.*

Asher

(tense): Wait—hold on—!

Ira

(calmly): Too late for second thoughts.

*Without another word, Ira sinks his fangs into Asher’s neck.*

Asher

AH—!

*Pain surges like fire under his skin. His hands clutch at Ira’s sleeves.*

Asher

(thinking): It burns— Why does it burn so much?!

*Ira drinks slowly, deliberately. Then finally pulls back, licking the blood from his lips.*

Ira

(softly): Adorable. So warm. So… fragile.

*Asher breathes heavily, trembling.*

Asher

You’re… insane…

Ira

(smirking): And you’re delicious.

*In the distance, the argument rages on:*

Amaya

(screaming): GET OUT before I summon my magical spaghetti army!!

Silas

(shouting): YOU ARE NOT A WITCH, WOMAN!!

Amaya

Oh yeah?! THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE!?

*A loud crash. Maybe a chair this time.*

Asher

(groaning, still dazed): Make it stop…

Ira

(chuckling): Honestly… I’m starting to like her.

*Asher lies slumped in Ira’s arms, breath shaky, blood still warm on his neck.*

Asher

(gasping): You’re… seriously messed up…
