I WON'T LET GO OF YOU

I WON'T LET GO OF YOU

Chapter 003#

...The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, bathing Bella’s room in a soft, golden hue. But the warmth of the new day did little to comfort her. She sat on the edge of her bed, staring at the packed suitcase beside her. Her hands trembled as she clutched her phone, debating whether to make the call she’d been dreading....

...Last night had left her shaken to the core. Oliver’s words, his actions, the fire in his eyes – they haunted her. She’d seen his vulnerability beneath the rage, but it was tangled in a darkness she didn’t know how to untangle....

...Her heart ached for the man she had fallen for, the man who had once let his guard down in her office, revealing pieces of a soul burdened by the weight of his world. But the man who had cornered her in the kitchen last night wasn’t the same. He was someone else entirely, and she didn’t know if she could reach him....

...The phone vibrated in her hand, snapping her from her thoughts. She glanced at the screen: an unknown number. Her heart sank as a familiar dread crept into her chest. She hesitated for a moment before answering....

...“Hello?” her voice was soft, almost trembling....

...“Bella,” the deep, gravelly voice on the other end sent a chill down her spine. It was unmistakable....

...“Oliver,” she breathed, clutching the phone tighter. “How did you…?”...

...“You didn’t think I’d let you go that easily, did you?” His tone was calm, almost casual, but it carried an edge that made her stomach churn....

...“I need space,” she said, her voice firm despite the fear threatening to consume her. “I need time to figure things out.”...

...“Space?” he echoed, a dark chuckle following. “Time? Bella, we don’t have that luxury. You don’t just walk away from me and expect me to wait patiently for your return.”...

...Her grip on the phone tightened, frustration bubbling beneath her fear. “This isn’t about you, Oliver. It’s about me. I can’t live like this, constantly looking over my shoulder, wondering if I’ll be caught in the crossfire of your world.”...

...There was a pause, the silence on the other end stretching uncomfortably. When he finally spoke, his voice was softer, almost pleading. “You think I’d ever let anything happen to you? Bella, you’re the only good thing in my life. The only thing that keeps me grounded. Don’t take that away from me.”...

...Tears welled up in her eyes as his words struck a chord deep within her. She wanted to believe him, wanted to trust that he could protect her, but she knew better. His world was a storm, unpredictable and unforgiving, and she had already been caught in its winds....

...“You can’t promise me safety, Oliver,” she said softly. “Not when you’re surrounded by danger at every turn.”...

...“Then let me prove it to you,” he said, his tone resolute. “Stay. Give me a chance to show you that we can make this work.”...

...She closed her eyes, the weight of his words pressing down on her. Could she stay? Could she risk everything for the man she loved, knowing the consequences could be deadly?...

...“I don’t know,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I don’t know if I can.”...

...“You don’t have to decide now,” he said, his voice gentler. “But don’t leave. Not yet. Let me see you, talk to you, without all this fear and distance between us.”...

...Her heart ached at the vulnerability in his voice, but her mind screamed at her to hold her ground. “I’ll think about it,” she said finally, her voice barely audible....

...“That’s all I ask,” he replied. “I’ll be waiting.”...

...The line went dead, leaving her alone with her thoughts. She placed the phone down on the nightstand and buried her face in her hands. She wanted to believe in him, in the love they shared, but the shadows of his world loomed too large, threatening to consume them both....

...Hours later, she found herself walking through the city streets, the bustling crowds and bright lights a stark contrast to the suffocating tension she had left behind. She needed air, clarity, anything to help her sort through the chaos in her mind....

...As she wandered aimlessly, a black car pulled up alongside her. She tensed, her instincts screaming at her to run, but before she could move, the passenger window rolled down. A familiar face peered out – one of Oliver’s men....

...“Miss Kaydenist,” he said, his tone polite but firm. “Mr. Deveron would like a word.”...

...Her heart sank as she realized she couldn’t outrun him. No matter where she went, Oliver would always find her. And as much as she wanted to resist, a part of her knew she couldn’t escape the pull he had on her – the pull of love, obsession, and the dangerous ties that bound them together....
