Whispers of Vengeance

...— A Fateful Night Beneath the Blood Moon — ...

**Kingdom of Light – Palace Courtyard**

**\[ Midnight** \]

The moon hung low and full—glowing crimson. A blood moon. A rare omen in the magical world, known for stirring ancient energies and unveiling long-buried truths.

The palace buzzed with tension. Guards were doubled, mages patrolled the skies, and magical wards shimmered faintly along the palace walls.

In her chamber, Aeris stood at the balcony, her silver hair catching the moonlight. She gripped her staff tightly, its blue gem glowing faintly in her hand. The events of the rooftop still replayed in her mind—Kaelen’s touch, his kiss, the way he had said her name like it was sacred.

But her thoughts were clouded by a whisper…

> “He’s hiding something. And you already know it.”

It was her mother’s voice—echoing from memory. Aeris closed her eyes and breathed deeply. “Then I’ll face it,” she whispered to herself. “Whatever it is… I won’t run.”

**\[ Beneath the Ruins** \]

Lyra stood before the Void Gate, her hair flowing wild, black eyes pulsing with forbidden power. She had waited long enough. The beast was ready. All that remained was one final command.

Around her, enchanted bones floated in the air, spinning faster and faster. The ritual was ancient—its cost was steep.

A drop of her own blood fell onto the final glyph.

> “Let her heart burn. Let her light die. Let the queen of magic fall.”

The glyph burst into violet fire.

From the shadows behind her, the beast emerged. Twice the size of a lion, covered in black crystal-like scales. Eyes like dying stars.

“Find her.”

“Kill her.”

The beast roared—its scream echoing like thunder—and vanished into the night.

Kaelen walked beside Aeris through the moonlit garden. Trees shimmered with soft golden fruit and flowers whispered lullabies in the breeze. For a moment, the world was quiet.

Aeris broke the silence. “You said my locket was in a prophecy. What did it say?”

Kaelen hesitated. “That the one who bears the moonfire crystal will decide the fate of the world. Light or shadow. Love or ruin.”

Aeris stopped. “You believe that’s me?”

“I know it’s you.”

She looked into his eyes. “And which side do you stand on?”

Kaelen reached up, touching the locket gently. “The side that keeps you alive.”

Before she could respond, a gust of wind burst through the trees. Birds shrieked and fled. The sky darkened—not with clouds, but with something… unnatural.

The beast had arrived.

\[**Garden Battle | Magic Unleashed**\]

The beast leapt from the shadows, crashing into the marble ground with a roar that shattered nearby statues. Its tails whipped like blades, and its fangs dripped with dark venom.

Kaelen barely had time to react. He threw a bolt of shadow lightning, but the beast absorbed it.

Aeris summoned a shield of blue flame, blocking the creature’s claws—but the force sent her skidding backward.

> “It feeds on shadow magic,” she realized.

“Then it’s mine to face.”

Aeris stepped forward, her body glowing with radiant energy. She raised her staff high, chanting words of Old Magic.

> “By the starborn flame, by the dawn’s first breath—let this light break your chains!”

A column of pure light surged from her, striking the beast and burning its hide.

It screamed in agony but slashed with its tail, catching her across the chest. She fell.

Kaelen caught her just in time.

Blood stained her dress. Her eyes fluttered. “I’m fine… just keep fighting…”

Kaelen’s fury ignited.

> “You touched her.”

His hands surged with new energy—darker than ever, but controlled. A fusion of shadow and light. For the first time, his magic didn’t seek to destroy—it sought to protect.

He hurled a bolt of hybrid lightning. It struck the beast in the core, tearing through its armor and hurling it into the trees.

Aeris, still conscious, raised her staff one last time. “Finish it.”

Together, they spoke one final incantation:

> “By bond and flame—be unmade.”

The beast exploded in a burst of white fire and black smoke.

Silence.

Only the gentle hum of magic remained.

[Scene: Aftermath | Hidden Realizations]

Kaelen held Aeris in his arms. “You’re hurt.”

She smiled weakly. “So are you. Again.”

He laughed softly, brushing her hair back. “This is becoming a pattern.”

But before she passed out, she whispered, “Kaelen… I think I love you.”

His heart froze.

He whispered back, “Then I’m already cursed.”

She didn’t hear.

\[**Lyra’s Temple | The First Crack**\]

Back in her lair, Lyra clutched her chest again. “It failed… again…”

Her eyes darkened further—until they were like twin voids. “Then I’ll have to do it myself.”

She turned to the shadows.

And from them, a figure stepped out.

A man in a black crown, with wings made of smoke.

> “Are you ready to become more than just a scorned queen?”

She bowed. “I’m ready to become a goddess of ruin.”
