That morning, Ren helped Yui carry heavy bags 🍅🥬 from the market.

He wiped his sweaty forehead, slung his schoolbag over his shoulder 🎒, and dashed towards Gakkō no Kamoku — his middle school.

But fate had other plans.

Two bullies, Hiroto and Souma, cornered him near the school gates 🏫.

Ren tried to run, but he wasn’t fast enough.

Hiroto sneered, kicking dirt on him, "See this idiot? He couldn’t even outrun us!" 🤣

The two walked away, leaving Ren bloody and humiliated.

A voice called out:

"Listen," Jun said, leaning closer, "you got guts. You wanna learn how to really fight? Like... bare-knuckle fight?"

Ren's battered body ached, but something inside his chest flared like a spark 🔥.

"YES. YES! I’ll do it!!" Ren shouted without hesitation.

Jun laughed and slapped Ren on the back 👊.

"Alright, tough guy. Come with me."

They walked through the city under the setting sun 🌇 until they reached a shady, beat-down building.

The sign read: Kobushi Boubi (拳防備) — "Fist Defense" 🥊🏯.

Inside, the air smelled like sweat, blood, and old leather.

They met a scary-looking man, Master Fuji — a former fighter whose face looked like it had seen a thousand wars ⚔️.

Fuji eyed Ren suspiciously.

"Jun, I know you're our best fighter 🥇... but why the hell are you bringing me this weakling?"

Jun smiled, smoke from his cigarette curling lazily in the air 🚬.

"Old man, he’s got potential. I can feel it."

Fuji grunted.

"Tch. Fine. Let’s see if he can even punch a tree hard enough to knock down a leaf 🍂."

They dragged Ren outside to the practice yard.

"Punch that tree," Jun ordered, pointing.

Ren nodded and threw a wild punch.

Nothing.

He punched again.

Nothing.

Again.

Nothing but bruised knuckles and stinging pain 😣.

Hours passed.

The sun sank, and darkness swallowed the sky 🌑.

Streetlights buzzed to life.

Ren kept punching — his fists bleeding, his body screaming to stop 🩸.

Finally, at 10 PM, a single, small leaf fluttered down 🍂.

Ren collapsed to the floor, exhausted and crying silent tears.

"Arigato... sir..." he whispered between gasps 🥲.

Jun leaned against the wall, cigarette glowing in the dark 🚬.

"See, old man..." he said, a lazy smirk on his lips. "I told you.
