Storms on the Horizon

The darkness of the sea enveloped the old ship as it sailed away from the abandoned harbor, now just a distant shadow on the horizon. The woman, with her cheerful nature and curious gaze, roamed the deck, inspecting every corner as if she wanted to decipher the secrets the vessel held. The demon, meanwhile, stood by the wheel, his expression cold and his gaze fixed on the horizon. There was something about him, an invisible tension that seemed to intensify with each mile that took them further from the harbor.

The waters were calm at first, but the wind was beginning to shift, announcing the arrival of a storm. The woman approached the demon, carrying a rope in her hands to secure it. Her sky-blue hair gleamed faintly in the moonlight, and her red eyes sparkled with excitement.

"What do you think we'll find out there?" she asked, with a smile that seemed to illuminate the darkness that surrounded them.

The demon glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, his expression betraying a hint of disinterest. "Problems," he replied, still staring at the sea.

"Well, there are always problems," she replied, still with that optimistic spark that seemed to defy any adversity. "But if we don't face them, why set sail?"

Her answer made him pause for a moment. He said nothing more, but something in his eyes seemed to change, a flicker of curiosity that was barely perceptible.

The storm arrived without warning. The skies darkened, and the waves began to pound the ship. The woman, despite her cheerful nature, demonstrated an unexpected skill in maneuvering through the dangers. Her energy and determination contrasted with the calculated coldness of the demon, who held the helm steady while the vessel struggled to stay afloat.

In the midst of the storm, something strange happened. A shadow, almost indistinguishable amid the darkness and the rain, slithered across the deck. It was swift and silent, as if it belonged to the very waters that now threatened to swallow them. The woman saw it first, and her reaction was immediate.

"There's something here!" she shouted, running toward the demon.

He didn't respond, but his posture changed. His cold gaze was now fixed on the deck, searching for the source of the threat. The shadow moved again, and this time they could both see it clearly. It was a dark figure, with eyes that glowed like embers in the gloom. It didn't appear to be human, but it wasn't completely of this world either.

The demon advanced toward the figure, its imposing presence facing the unknown without hesitation. The woman, though uneasy, followed closely, as if her light and energy were necessary to counter the darkness that threatened them.

The confrontation was brief but intense. The figure seemed to recognize the demon, as if they shared a connection neither of them was willing to reveal. Before disappearing into the mist and rain, she left a few words that echoed in the air:

"We will meet again... sooner than you think."

When the storm ceased and the waters calmed, the woman and the demon remained silent, each processing what had happened. The threat was gone, but the mystery was just beginning. Who was this figure? And what did he want from them?
