The office was empty, save for the faint buzz of the overhead lights and the distant hum of the city below. Emma glanced at the clock—10:45 PM. She had stayed late, finishing an urgent project that her boss, Luke Carter, had assigned to her earlier in the day. Normally, she would have called it quits by now, but tonight felt different. Tonight, something was pulling her back to that damn office.

Luke. The man who haunted her thoughts, the man who made her pulse quicken with just a glance. He was tall, dark, and powerful. His suits were perfectly tailored, his posture impeccable, and his charisma so magnetic that it seemed to draw everyone in. Luke took another step forward, closing the space between them. Emma’s breath hitched as he stopped just inches away, his body so close she could feel the heat radiating off of him. His scent—cologne, leather, and something else intoxicating—filled the air, and she had to resist the urge to close her eyes and breathe him in.

“Do you know how many times I’ve had to stop myself from crossing that line with you?” His voice was a low growl, a barely contained hunger that sent a shiver down Emma’s spine. “You think I don’t see the way you look at me? The way you bite your lip when I walk into a room? The way your breath catches when I give you an order?”

Her body responded before her mind could catch up. Her heart was hammering in her chest, her legs suddenly weak beneath her, and her breathing was shallow, almost frantic. She knew he was right. She had been so careful, so controlled, but Luke had been watching her. He always watched her, and tonight, the mask was slipping.

“I didn’t mean to...” Emma started, but Luke didn’t let her finish. His hand shot out, grabbing her wrist with a force that sent a thrill through her entire body. He yanked her toward him, his grip tightening as he pulled her against his chest. Her breath caught in her throat as she felt the hard planes of his body press against her soft curves.

“I don’t care about your excuses,” he muttered, his lips dangerously close to her ear. “I’ve been waiting for this moment. For you to stop pretending. For you to stop hiding.”

Emma’s pulse raced as his hand slid to the back of her neck, fingers tangling in her hair, pulling her face up to meet his. He was so close now that she could taste the tension in the air, could feel the unspoken desire radiating off him in waves. And despite every rational part of her mind telling her to pull away, she couldn’t move. She couldn’t breathe. All she could do was look into his dark, intense eyes.

“You want this too, don’t you?” Luke’s voice was rough, raw with desire. “I’ve seen the way you look at me when you think no one’s watching. The way your body responds when I get too close. You want me to claim you, don’t you?”

There was no turning back now. The words were out before Emma could even think, a desperate, primal need filling her chest. “Yes,” she breathed, her voice shaking. “I want you.”

A growl of satisfaction rumbled in Luke’s chest as his lips crashed down on hers, taking her by surprise with a kiss so fierce it stole the air from her lungs. It was demanding, possessive, as though he was staking his claim. His tongue plunged into her mouth with an urgency that sent a shock of heat straight to her core. Emma’s hands gripped the lapels of his jacket, pulling him closer, needing him against her, wanting to feel every inch of him.

One of his hands slid down her body, pushing her skirt higher, until his fingers brushed the edge of her panties. Emma gasped into the kiss, her body reacting to his touch like a live wire. He smirked against her lips, the satisfaction in his expression enough to drive her wild.

“You’re mine tonight,” Luke growled, his voice dark and filled with a promise that made Emma’s heart race. “And I’m not letting you go.”

Before she could reply, he was lifting her effortlessly, carrying her to his desk and laying her down. The cold surface against her skin sent a jolt through her, heightening her senses, but she didn’t care. She wanted him. She needed him. There was no turning back.

Luke’s lips trailed down her neck, biting and sucking at the sensitive skin as his hands explored her body. Every touch felt like fire, every kiss a spark that threatened to consume them both. His hands moved lower, pushing her skirt up higher, his fingers teasing the edge of her panties before sliding underneath.

“Tell me you want this,” he demanded, his voice thick with need.

“I do,” Emma gasped, her body trembling with anticipation. “I want you.”
