The Solo Knight

The Solo Knight

Chapter 1 The Prologue

The kingdom of Zandaria was a land bathed in joy and serenity, a place surrounded by majestic mountains and lush green valleys that stretched far beyond the eye could see. The air always carried a sense of calm, and the people lived their days with laughter and light hearts. Yet, behind the kingdom’s peaceful surface lay an eerie truth—no one knew who truly ruled them.

The identities of the king and the government remained a complete mystery. No citizen had ever laid eyes on the king, nor met a single official. Despite this, the nation functioned flawlessly. Laws were upheld, peace was maintained, and there were no complaints from the people. Life flowed smoothly, as if guided by an invisible hand. The mystery of the unseen ruler didn’t bother anyone; it simply became part of Zandaria’s charm. The people believed that if everything was going well, there was no reason to question who pulled the strings.

But beyond the borders of peace and prosperity lurked a terrifying threat—the Dark Void. This realm was unlike anything that existed in the known world. It was a strange, four-dimensional space, home to monstrous beings known as Entities. Towering and fearsome, these creatures were drawn to human happiness like moths to a flame. They fed on joy, absorbing it as energy. Whenever happiness flourished too brightly in a place, a strange phenomenon would occur: a portal, called the Eternity Opening, would tear through the sky, allowing the Entities to invade the realm of humans.

Standing between this darkness and the people was a single knight—Kronus. He was not like the rest of the government soldiers who stayed within the safety of the castle walls. Kronus chose to live among the people, though they didn’t welcome him. His presence was cold and distant. Always wrapped in a silver suit of armor, his face covered by a long green scarf, he was a man shaped by battle. His right arm was horribly scarred—a grim reminder of the price he had paid to protect the nation. He wielded two swords, and his skill in battle was unmatched. Yet, he was always alone. Depressed. Unsmiling. The people feared him, whispered about him, and kept their distance.

Though he served the kingdom loyally, Kronus never once met the king. When he traveled to the castle to report on the country’s situation or receive new orders, it was always a minister who spoke with him. The ruler stayed hidden, just like a shadow behind the throne.

One afternoon, while walking through the town in search of a place to eat, Kronus heard something that snapped him to attention—a sharp scream. Panic followed. People were fleeing in every direction, their faces twisted in terror. Kronus calmly looked up to the sky.

There it was.

A swirling Eternity Opening had appeared above the rooftops, and from its depths, three massive shadowy figures began to emerge. Their monstrous forms crackled with dark energy.

Without hesitation, Kronus gripped the hilts of his swords.

The time had come to fight once again.
