Tales That Fell Out of My Pocket
Chapter 2
The great citadel of Aurenya rose like fire-stained marble above the dawn mist, its towers carved in ancient dragonbone and gilded obsidian. From the highest spire, the entire kingdom stretched into the horizon — lush forests, burning deserts, and mountains veined with gold.
But Jeon Jungkook wasn’t looking at any of it.
He stood alone in the Hall of Ancients, the morning sun casting fractured light through the stained-glass windows. The floor beneath him was etched with the names of fallen kings and queens — warriors who bled their bones into Aurenya’s soil to build its legacy. And yet, today, it all felt… hollow.
Because of a single night beneath the twin moons.
Jungkook gritted his teeth, fist clenched so tight the golden rings on his fingers cut into his skin.
Hated that he remembered the way Taehyung spoke his name like a secret. Hated the way his magic had tasted in the air — sweet, poisonous, like a forbidden fruit Jungkook shouldn’t have dared to breathe in.
He should have killed him.
And that weakness? It echoed in his blood like a curse.
.....
"Your aura’s off-balance,"
Came a calm voice from behind.
Jungkook didn’t need to turn.
Jeon Jungkook
"Uncle Namjoon."
The High War Mage stepped beside him, eyes scanning Jungkook’s face with quiet calculation.
Namjoon
"You were gone last night. No guards. No word. Just a report from the border wardens — that something shook the magic lines near Duskveil."
Namjoon didn’t need him to. His silence said more than words.
Namjoon
"You saw him, didn’t you?"
Namjoon
"Taehyung. Prince of Varyndor. He’s more dangerous than you realize. Not because of his power… but because of what he awakens." * Sighed *
Jeon Jungkook
* Turned sharply * "What are you saying?"
Namjoon
"I’m saying he’s not just a threat to the kingdom. He’s a threat to you."
Jeon Jungkook
* Jaw clenched * "You think I’m weak?"
Namjoon
"I think you’re unraveling. And the worst part is—you don’t even know why."
Across the mountains, hidden beneath layers of fog and dark enchantments, the kingdom of Varyndor slumbered in icy splendor.
Thorns bloomed along its towers. Crystalline beasts roamed its shadowed halls. And in the royal sanctum, cloaked in raven-feather drapes and serpent scales,
A flicker of flame. A jawline carved from war. A flash of black eyes and trembling rage
Every time Taehyung breathed his name into the runes, he saw him.
Not clearly. Just fragments. Enough to drive him mad.
Kim Taehyung
"He felt it," *whispered*
Dipping his fingers into the basin, painting the reflection with desire.
Kim Taehyung
"Even if he pretends he didn’t. That look in his eyes… he knows. He knows there’s something between us."
Behind him, a shadow stirred.
.....
"You're playing with fire, my prince,"
A low voice — husky, female, and venom-laced.
Kim Taehyung
* Didn't’t turn.* "I don’t fear fire. I crave it."
Yura
"Jungkook isn’t like the others. He’s not a puppet to be charmed or broken."
Kim Taehyung
"Exactly." * pause * "He’s the only one worth chasing."
Lady Yura, Varyndor’s spymaster and blood-witch, stepped forward, her crimson veil glistening with runes.
Yura
"Your obsession will cost us. War looms. The Council already doubts your loyalty to the Varyndorian cause."
Taehyung finally looked up.
His eyes glowed—not with innocence or infatuation, but something older. Wilder.
Kim Taehyung
"Let them doubt. Let them whisper."
He stood, blood dripping from his fingertips.
Kim Taehyung
"I don’t care for their games. This isn’t about thrones or armies. It’s about him."
Yura
"And if he refuses you?"
Kim Taehyung
"A man can refuse a crown.
Kim Taehyung
" He can refuse fate. "
Kim Taehyung
" But no one refuses what’s already written in the bones of the world."
Yura stared at him for a long time. Then, slowly, she knelt.
Yura
"So be it, my prince. If we burn for this—then may the flames be beautiful."
Back in Aurenya, the palace throne room buzzed with tension.
War banners hung heavy. Generals stood flanking the Queen’s dais, murmuring troop movements, missing scouts, and strange energy pulses near the border.
Queen Seohyun sat in silence as Jungkook entered, his cloak stained with dust and magic scars not yet healed.
Seo-Hyung
"Prince Jeon," * said formally * "We have reports of arcane corruption near the Moonspire. Your thoughts?"
Jeon Jungkook
"It’s him,....Taehyung."
Queen Seohyun’s eyes darkened.
Seo-Hyung
"So the rumors are true."
Jeon Jungkook
"They are," * his voice unwavering* "He crossed into Aurenyan lands. He knew where I’d be. He wanted me to see him."
Seo-Hyung
"And what did you want?"
Jeon Jungkook
"I wanted to kill him."
Seo-Hyung
"And yet he lives."
But every silence is a confession.
Seo-Hyung
* Lips tightened * "You’ve been compromised."
Jeon Jungkook
* Fists shook * "No. I’m clear-headed. I know what he is."
Seo-Hyung
"And yet he lives," she repeated.
Namjoon
"We must act. Varyndor grows bold. If we wait, they will strike first."
Seohyun nodded slowly. Then looked at Jungkook.
Seo-Hyung
"You will lead the first wave. You will bring me Taehyung’s head."
But inside, something cracked.
He wanted to obey. Wanted to be the loyal prince, the perfect heir.
But even now, as the order burned through the air, his thoughts drifted back to that night. To violet eyes. To words spoken like prophecy.
Kim Taehyung
“You dream of war. I dream of you.”
That night, sleep didn’t come.
Jungkook lay in his chamber, moonlight painting pale silver across his sheets, mind haunted by everything he shouldn’t feel.
He remembered Taehyung’s touch—not violent, not desperate. Intimate.
He remembered his voice—dark silk hiding blades.
And worst of all, he remembered how alive he had felt standing in front of him.
Like he was made for that moment.
He slammed his fist into the wall. Cracks bloomed like spiderwebs.
Jeon Jungkook
"No," he whispered. "I won’t fall."
But fate doesn’t ask for permission.
It only waits for the right moment to strike.
Far away, on a cliff overlooking the chasm between kingdoms, Taehyung stood alone.
He could feel it — the pull.
Soon, Aurenya would march. Blood would spill.
He had seen it in the stars. In the mirror of blood
Their fates were knotted.
