The beginning of a broken home

Going up in a nuclear family was one of my most cherished memory. In a family of six, we had memorable moments with each other such as: time to play, tell stories and challenge each other while pretending to be a superhero that we once idealized. But those golden days were over when relatives started to get involved and my father, being stupid listened to them.

My mommy was an hardworking woman, she's always working and providing the best care that she possibly can for us, there wasn't a day that went by without her finding something for the four of us to eat, while our father was out late or was simply absent for couple of days.

My aunty, Marv was always ready to come at my mother to insult and to cause harm. But my mother Sandra, was always prepared because she knows what they're intentions were.

Being very young and innocent, I couldn't help my mom fight back. I could clearly see what my aunt was doing was very wrong.

I don't know if my father knew what was going on. Mother had no one to rely on but herself.

Sandra face was lost in thoughts as she steers blankly at the wall. Looking at my mom, wondering what was going through her mind, I couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking or even was worried about.

Taking my gaze from her, I think to myself: what Cliff (my father) was doing, can he break free from jail to come help mom? Why, is this happening to mother! Suddenly Marv comes rushing to my mother.

Sandra! Cliff isn't here to defend you now! You have to leave here today, move out you dirty..... Marv cursed.

Sandra stood still without saying a word, Marv rushing over with a big kitchen knife in her hand towards my mother. I stood still, unable to help or say a word. Sandra pulled from her bosom an ice prick, upon seeing that Marv back off cursing. Sandra rushed Marv and Marv took off running to her house crying out for murder.

We lived in a family yard so when everyone heard her cries they ran out to see what's going on. No one dears to come against my mother or even care to asked her what's going on?.

After everything has died down my mom went inside the house with worries on her face she was crying every tears as I looked on I was very sorry and upset that I could not help my mother at the time when everything takes place she was holding my little sister shanny in her arms.

I wish deep down in my heart that I would quickly grow up to help my mother to fight back. I was determined in my heart to defend my mother at all costs I wanted everyone to see that I'm able to defend my mother and that I won't hold back.
