The battle and betrayal

– The Final Battle Begins

The Gate of Worlds stood before us—massive, ancient, pulsing with eerie light. It was carved from obsidian and bone, covered in runes that twisted when you looked at them too long.

Above it, the sky cracked with green lightning. Lucien stood at its center, cloaked in shadow, his eyes glowing white like burning stars. The ground beneath him withered with every step.

“You’re too late,” he said. “The seventh seal is already breaking.”

We had no backup. No more time. Just the six of us—each a Key—facing the most powerful being we’d ever known.

– Betrayal in the Ranks

As we charged forward, Kael—the Earth Key—suddenly froze. He turned to us and whispered, “I’m sorry.”

Before we could react, he struck the ground, creating a chasm that separated us.

**He betrayed us.

Lucien had gotten to him first.

Kael had seen visions of the future—a world reborn with Lucien as ruler, and believed that was the only way to survive. He hadn’t just switched sides. He had helped Lucien build the Gate.

Lyra screamed in rage, and her shadow powers exploded, consuming half the battlefield in darkness.

– Memory Unleashed

I tried to follow Lucien, but he caught me in an illusion—a false world where everything I wanted was real: my parents were alive, I had a normal life, and the world wasn’t burning.

But deep down, I knew it was a lie. I tapped into my true power: not just memory, but ancestral memory.

I connected to every life, every Key who had come before me. I saw visions of the first Gate, the ancient war, and the truth:

Lucien wasn’t the seventh Key. I was.

He had stolen my place before I was even born. I was created to restore balance, but he had absorbed my destiny through forbidden rituals.

Now, I had to take it back.

– The Gate Awakens

Lucien began the ritual. The Gate opened slightly—and from it, something moved. A limb, gray and massive, clawed its way into our world. The Deep One was waking.

Our team regrouped. Even Kael hesitated, seeing the horror that was coming. Elias stepped forward, his flames brighter than ever.

“We stop this. Now.”

Together, we attacked. Lyra turned shadows into blades. Orion summoned a storm so powerful it broke mountains. Selene drowned the battlefield in crashing waves. Elias turned the sky into fire.

And me? I rewrote time for a moment. Just enough to show Lucien the truth of what he was becoming.

He screamed—fighting me mentally, but I was stronger now. I reclaimed my power.

Part 15 – Sealing the Gate

With my full strength, I placed my hand on the final seal and pushed.

Lucien begged, pleaded, raged. But it was too late.

Together, we used all our powers and forced the Gate shut. The limb vanished. The sky cleared. The runes faded.

Lucien fell to his knees, defeated.

But before we could speak, the Gate whispered:

“One day… I will open again.”

Epilogue – A World Reborn

We had saved the world—but at a cost. Kael disappeared. The Gate was sealed, but not destroyed. Lucien vanished into the ruins.

Now, we guard the Gate from the shadows. Still hunted. Still watched.

Because evil doesn’t sleep.

It waits.
