Shocked by the firm and immediate response, Ethan looked at Maya with wide, pleading eyes. "But why?" he asked with a mixture of confusion and disappointment. Giselle, sensing the tension, hurriedly chimed in, "She just doesn’t have the mood. After all, it’s her first day of school. Everything feels new, right?". With a resigned sigh, Ethan stopped insisting, his enthusiasm deflating like a balloon losing air. “If not today, then let’s do it some other day,” he sighed, the hope in his voice replaced by a kind of fragile acceptance.
The air in the classroom was thick with disappointment; a collective longing echoed in the silence that followed. It felt as if the entire class had been eager to share lunch with them, to form new bonds and laugh together, and all of that hope came crashing down with just a few words from Maya.
Damien, overhearing their exchange, couldn’t help but ponder who she really was. She is an amusing girl to think she would even reject someone as bright and friendly as Ethan. His mind raced, curious and confused, as he struggled to make sense of her sudden withdrawal.
As a wave of uncertainty washes over Maya. "Wait, why am I feeling a gaze from somewhere? Am I hallucinating?" I instinctively looked around the room. To my surprise, I noticed clusters of boys and girls peering in our direction, their expressions a mix of intrigue and admiration. "Why were they treating us like animals in a zoo?". Maya felt a strange mixture of discomfort and embarrassment, unaware that their curious stares were fueled by admiration for her beauty.

And just like that, my first day of school came to a close—an emotional roller coaster filled with unexpected highs and lows, leaving my heart racing and mind spinning.
When the last bell finally rang, I hurriedly packed my things, urgency fueling my actions as I pulled Giselle along, desperate to escape any lingering conversations. We waited for our car to arrive, the anticipation hanging in the air. As we stood there, my eyes caught sight of Damien slipping into a sleek car parked at the edge of the school grounds, his driver ready to whisk him away. I leaned closer to Giselle and whispered, “Is it the privilege of the rich or the school owner’s son?”
Giselle shot her a playful smirk. “Oh, don’t you think we should get that kind of privilege too, if it is for the rich only? I mean, we can pay for our car to be parked in the school's parking lot too. But it's definitely not like that I’d say it’s the privilege of the school owner’s son.”
I burst into laughter, a genuine, infectious sound that filled the space between us. “Then should we just adopt the owner of this school as our father, too, just to get our car parked inside?” I said with mischief shining in my face.
Giselle chuckled, her laughter weaving into the moment. “I would love to see the expression on your dad’s face if he heard that!” The two girls laughed heartily, the worries of the day momentarily forgotten, sharing a light-hearted moment filled with joy.
As they continued to giggle, Damien's car passed by, and through the tinted window, his gaze found Maya’s. He couldn’t help but smile, a warmth blooming in his chest as he overheard their playful banter. “As my dear wishes, I would make your wish come true and make my dad your dad too no matter what,” he murmured softly to himself, a promise hanging in the air.
The car finally arrived, and they climbed in, completely unaware of the twists and turns that awaited Maya’s life. A mixture of excitement and unknown challenges lay ahead, but for now, they shared laughter, friendship, and dreams, blissfully unaware of what the future held.
