Running Away

Rae’s breath began to falter but she cannot stop yet. She don’t know precisely where Ed and Phipps whereabouts, but she know for sure they are behind her, chasing her. No she can stop now.

A little bit longer, she coaxing herself.

Keep running.

The surrounding trees grew denser. It’s getting hard to find a gap flat enough to land her feet on. Thee roots covered the path she was on.

Suddenly the path under her feet degenerate and she slip down, Pain hit her whole body. Rae bit her lips, to keep her lips from screaming. They should not know her whereabouts. No…

She mired and hit a tree root. She try to get up but her ankle shriek, she must have sprained it. In confused Rae look around.

Faintly she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.

Ed and Phipps already close. She has to hide, bushes in front of her is high enough, but she didn’t have time to reach it. They will see her. Rae jumping the high root in front of her and hide in the behind. Closer her body and pray they won’t see her.

“Fucking chick, she run so fast,” Rae vaguely heard Phipps gasping voice. She frozen, she still close to her chaser apparently. “Where did she go!” said Phipps anger.

“Listen Lass!” Ed start to yell, “any fate that waiting for you in the woods is more terrible the fate when you with us. Come back! And I will assume this never happen!”

“That fucking chick won’t listen to you, she chose to rotten in this jungle rather than come with us. Shit, I though it will be an easy delivery.”

Rae heard footsteps come closer. Her heart biting louder. They would heard it, thought Rae frantically. She can be caught now. They will no longer relax their surveillance if she is caught. There is only once change.

I beg you, thought Rae to who knows who.

“You will dead in here!” shout Ed again, try to convince her.

“Listen,” said Phipps. Rae froze even more, from his voice she know they not far away from her hiding place. “I don’t want to enter farther more into the wood. We sent message and wait for help!”

“This fucking chick must have been far away.”

“Sit! Sit! Sit…! We don’t know the boundary of the elven forest. I don’t want to bet my life for that fucking chick. If she want die here let her be, I for sure prefer the punishment for master than die silly in here.”

The silent for a moment.

“You never know how master anger,” said Ed.

“No, I don’t. But I know for sure, if we enter deeper we will absolutely die. Let send massage. They won’t take long to reach this place. The more people looking is better.” Their footsteps can’t be heard again, Rae hope they will go back to the carriage and she ready to move again.

“Wait,” said Ed.

Rae froze, for a moment all was silent. The bushes near her moving. Follow by tiger roar. Rae can’t be more afraid. A big… big… white tiger standing still not far for her hiding place. She came from nowhere.

The white tiger isn’t ordinary Sumerian tiger. Her size far bigger. Almost as big as an adult Indian rhinoceros.

“Shit,” curse Phipps. Suddenly a red light from Phipps side slide and hit the tiger. The white tiger take a step back before, she roar so loud. She runs fast to her attacker.

“Call the help!” shout Ed, but too late the tiger has been ram Phipps and smash her body with her front paw. Rae watching with terrified look when the tiger open her mount and swallow Phipps head until broken off.

Ed blast of a white light to the tiger. The tiger step back for a second, but then run to Ed. Ed keep blast of whites light with chaotically, precisely hit the tiger. Every time the tiger getting hit she looks painful but she keep approaching. She bang Ed’s head with her paw. Create a badly injured. Ed fell to his knees bathed in blood before limb. His face chopped very deep.

The tiger not stop from there. She come close to Ed that already lying and pounce his neck. Shaking his body until Rae can’t look at it any more.

She will die in here.

Just like Ed and Phipps. Suddenly Rae heard a cub sound. The tiger have a cub. It standing not near from the place she come. Rae look back to the mother tiger. The mother tiger look at her and walk wobblingly toward Rae. Rae take a back frightened.

The tiger cub run greeting her mother. Which is suddenly collapse in front of Rae, exhausted.

“No…. no… no…,” murmur Rae, crawling towards the tiger mother, her fear disappear suddenly.

“Please, don’t die,” she mutter. Her eyes wet. She stroked the mother head. “I beg you,” she whispered. She know precisely, if the mother die the cub will also die. The mother moaned softly.

“No…” whisper Rae start to cry. Suddenly an energy flowing from the mother head which is stroked by Rae and a sound roar in Rae head.

He who’s tied to you, half of his life would keep yours. You owe a life to him. Then so be it, give your life as the wager. Protect him and he will protect you.

The sound disappear, together with a light that blast trough her chest. Creeping trough her whole body, than gather and blast faster trough the tiger cub. Rae feel something lost when the light leave her body. She look at the tiger cub who was looking back her. It feel like an understanding creeping between the two. They are tied.

“What was happen?” though her confuse, look at the mother tiger. With wide open Rae watching the mother tiger body fade away and disappear like it’s never exist, the tiger’s body turn into a thousand like that blast trough all directions in fasting speed. The shouts sound of animals startling Rae. Their shouts intertwined all around Rae. Terrified her. The tiger cub jump to her lap. Make her jump. But the cub weight gift conform to Rae.

“We have to go,” Rae scooped the tiger cub walked further into the forest.

The southing sound keeps Rae anxious and scares. Suddenly the sound stop makes her alert.

She look around it feel like there are peoples around that keep watching her. Rae frightening and run as fast as she can. She look back without noticed the cliff in front of it.

This time she will absolutely death. Her body was thrown away. She look the ground underneath the cliff which will crash her body. Every second past slowly. Rae swiftly curled up and placed the tiger cub in her embrace.

She felt a burst of pain when her feet hit the ground. The sound of bone cracking was deafening her ears. She fall rolling while hugging the tiger cub in her chest.

Then the darkness and pain blind her. Rae drowning deep in the darkness.
