This is my second time rereading this, and this part still annoys me just as much.
She was currently reading the infamous sweet sixteen scene—the moment Blaire Morris forced Will to walk barefoot across burning hot coals just to deliver birthday presents.
It was one of the cruelest punishments in the story, and no matter how many times she read it, it never got any easier to stomach.

Throwing her book aside, Wanda grabbed her bag and bolted out the door.
Wanda Allison was a high school student, financially supported by her parents.
But that didn’t stop her from taking on small jobs—

Wanda grumbled, cheeks burning with embarrassment. She tried not to let it show, but seriously—who wouldn't be humiliated after getting outsmarted by a nine year old.
She was just about ready to put this whole mess behind her when something caught her eye.
A small child, much younger than Linda, was standing alone near the road. No parents, no guardians in sight.
Toddler
*crawled to the middle of the road.*
A large vehicle was heading towards the toddler.
Suddenly, being late didn't matter to Wanda anymore.
She dashed towards the toddler catching Linda by suprise.
Unfortunately, Everything happened too quick for anyone could react.
Wanda could only recall a loud BANG after she had successfully pushed the toddler out of the way.
afterwards was what seems like intermittent darkness wavering over her after she collapsed covered in her own blood.
