Primeverse – Episode 4: "From Street to Store"
Summary:
Jace and Emily take their comic Shadow Strike to the next level! After meeting with the comic shop owner, Mr. Leonard, they invest in better paper, a glossy cover, and add color to key pages. Not only do they upgrade Issue #1, but they also create Issue #2, continuing Shadow Strike’s action-packed story.
With their new and improved comics, Mr. Leonard agrees to sell them in his shop, "Leonard’s Comic Haven"—a well-known local store. The deal? They get 70% of the profit for each sale, and he keeps 30% for giving them shelf space.
Their comics sell surprisingly well, with over 20 copies sold in the first weekend! Some customers even request signed copies and ask when Issue #3 is coming. Jace and Emily realize they’re no longer just kids selling comics on the street… they’re building a real fanbase.
Dialogue – Taking It to the Next Level
[Jace and Emily sitting in Emily’s garage, working on the upgrades.]
🔹 Jace (holding old comic): “Okay, we can’t sell these in a store looking like cheap printer paper.”
🔹 Emily: “Agreed. We need glossy covers. Maybe a few color panels?”
🔹 Jace: “Dude. That sounds expensive.”
🔹 Emily (calculating on phone): “With the money we made last time, we can print 30 better copies of Issue #1 and 25 copies of Issue #2. But we’ll be broke after that.”
🔹 Jace: “Worth it. If we sell in a store, we’ll make the money back and more.”
Meeting with Mr. Leonard at His Shop
[Leonard’s Comic Haven – A cozy, comic-filled store with shelves stacked with Marvel, DC, indie comics, and collector’s editions. Jace and Emily walk in with their updated comics.]
🔹 Mr. Leonard (inspecting the new Shadow Strike): “Huh. This looks way better. Glossy cover, better print quality, even some color? You kids really stepped up.”
🔹 Emily: “We want this to be the real deal.”
🔹 Mr. Leonard: “Alright, here’s my offer—I’ll sell them for $5 each. You get 70% of the profit, I keep 30%. If they sell well, we’ll talk about stocking more.”
🔹 Jace: “Deal.”
🔹 Mr. Leonard: “Good. Now let’s see if people actually buy them.”
First Day in the Store – Do People Buy It?
[Jace and Emily secretly watch from behind a shelf as customers browse the store.]
🔹 Customer #1 – A College Student: “Hey, what’s this? Shadow Strike?”
🔹 Mr. Leonard: “Local indie comic. Just hit the shelves today. Pretty solid work.”
🔹 Customer #1: “Hmm… I’ll take one.”
🔹 Jace (whispering to Emily): “FIRST SALE!”
🔹 Emily: “Shhh! Act normal.”
🔹 Customer #2 – A Dad & His Kid:
🔹 Kid: “Dad! This hero looks cool!”
🔹 Dad: “An original story, huh? Let’s support the little guys. We’ll take both issues.”
🔹 Mr. Leonard: “Smart move, kid. You might be holding the first issue of the next big thing.”
(Jace and Emily fist-bump, barely containing their excitement.)
Results After the First Weekend
✅ Issue #1 Sales: 15 copies
✅ Issue #2 Sales: 10 copies
✅ Total Money Earned: $87.50 (after Mr. Leonard’s 30% cut)
🔹 Jace: “Dude. We just made almost 90 bucks in one weekend.”
🔹 Emily: “And we didn’t even have to stand outside yelling at people.”
🔹 Jace: “We gotta start Issue #3.”
🔹 Emily: “No. We gotta celebrate first.”
(They head to a movie theater, treating themselves to popcorn and a superhero film—knowing that one day, Shadow Strike might be up there on the big screen too.)
Next Steps:
🔹 Plan Shadow Strike #3 – the fans are waiting!
🔹 Increase production – they need more copies!
