Finally, after a week, Ariemil was allowed to leave the hospital. As he walked out, his thoughts lingered on Lysha.
With anxiety filled in his face.
"Can I really trust her? She seems kind... she cares about me, helps me sleep... Wait, what if she didn’t sleep last night? What if she’s sick? I haven’t seen her today. Is she okay?"
Suddenly, Lysha appeared with joy lighting up her face.
"Oodaaa!" she called out and hugged him tightly. Ariemil simply let her hug him, unsure but comforted.
After that, Lysha made a surprising decision.
"Well, Oda... starting today, you’ll be living with me!" she said with a serious and confident look.
Ariemil hesitated.
"Ooh... you don’t have to do that. I can just stay at my family’s house."
"Whatttt!!! You can’t stay there all alone! You’re only ten!" she replied, shocked and worried.
Ariemil responded calmly,
"You’re ten too, right? So we’re the same."
Lysha’s face turned red as tears welled up in her eyes.
"Why do you keep saying you're okay when you’re clearly not? Waaaah... I’m just so worried! Why won’t you let me take care of you?! Waaaah... sniff..."
Ariemil sighed gently.
"Alright, I’ll go with you, okay? So stop crying now... wipe your tears."
He reached out and gently wiped the tears from her cheeks. After that, he followed Lysha home. Lysha beamed with happiness, while Ariemil quietly accepted her care, letting her do what she wanted.
As they arrived at her house, Ariemil quietly observed the surroundings. And just like that, he understood what kind of family Lysha came from. For the first time in a long while, he no longer worried about being betrayed. A small, relieved smile crept onto his face.
Lysha, noticing his expression, turned to him with joy sparkling in her eyes. "Oda, are you happy to stay here?" she asked cheerfully.
Ariemil replied softly, "Yeah... maybe."
Without warning, Lysha hugged him tightly. "You don’t need to worry so much," she said warmly. "Everyone in this house is really, really kind and good."
And then, everyone in the house gladly welcomed Ariemil as part of the family. Lysha helped him choose a room and offered the one right next to hers.
“Oda, our rooms should be side by side since you're new to the family,” Lysha said.
Ariemil nodded. “Okay, then I should take a look at my room.”
“Okay… go ahead,” Lysha replied.
When Ariemil stepped into his room, he was surprised by how big it was.
“Why do you look so surprised?” Lysha asked. “Is the room too small?”
“No… it’s not that. The room is big,” Ariemil said quietly.
“Then what is it?” Lysha asked, tilting her head.
Ariemil hesitated before answering. “It’s just… I used to live in a small room with only a needle chair and sharp objects meant to make me suffer.”
Lysha was shocked, her face full of concern. She quickly stepped closer. “Oda, from now on, you won’t have to experience any more pain or suffering. You're living here now. You never have to go back to that house. Even if you did, there’s nothing left there for you. You're safe now… so please, let go of those memories.”
After hearing her words, Ariemil suddenly hugged Lysha. Tears filled his eyes.
“Thank you… for letting me live with you and your family… thank you.”
