I couldn't believe my own awkwardness. Someone had just called me gorgeous, and I'd stood there like a statue, unable to muster a response. What was wrong with me?!. I was no stranger to receiving compliments, but when she said those words, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment, as if I had achieved something truly remarkable.
Maybe it was because she was breathtakingly beautiful herself, but her compliment felt especially sincere, and it touched my heart.

* There are many people here and, obviously, they are freshers too. I wonder if they know English, as I'm not planning to be friendless in my college life. *
I was unbothered by the fact that she was still staring at me. I just looked around and saw someone I didn't want to see, which was none other than my cousin.
