After his clutch game-winning shot in the Quarterfinals, Jaden collapses to the floor, clutching his ankle. His teammates surround him as the pain kicks in.
Hospital Check-Up – Bad News
Jaden’s dad, Marcus Carter, drives him to the hospital after the game.
Doctor: “You’ve got a Grade 2 ankle sprain. That means torn ligaments, swelling, and a lot of pain.”
Jaden sits up, tense.
Jaden: “How long am I out?”
Doctor: “At least two weeks. No running, no jumping, nothing. If you push it, you could make it worse.”
Jaden’s heart sinks. The Semifinals are in three days.
Locker Room – Breaking the News
Jaden walks into practice with crutches. The room falls silent.
Coach Wright: “What’s the verdict, Carter?”
Jaden sighs.

His teammates react:

The Warriors miss their leader.
Darnell Brooks turns the ball over twice.
The Vipers hit four straight threes.
Eric Vasquez gets locked down by their best defender.
At halftime, the Warriors are down 42-28.
Jaden watches from the bench, frustrated.
Halftime Speech – Marcus Steps In
Marcus Carter walks into the locker room.
Marcus: “Y’all playing scared. You waiting for someone to save you. But guess what? Jaden ain’t coming. This is YOUR game now.”
The team nods. They know he’s right.
Coach Wright: “We play fast, we play smart. Get the ball inside, attack, and trust each other.”
Second Half – The Comeback
The Warriors flip the script.
Cameron Lee dominates inside, scoring 12 points.
Eric Vasquez finally finds his shot, draining back-to-back threes.
Darnell Brooks dishes out four assists, controlling the tempo.
With 1 minute left, the game is tied 68-68.
Final Play – Who Steps Up?
The Vipers miss a shot, and the Warriors get one last possession.
Coach Wright: “Darnell, this is your moment.”
With 10 seconds left, Darnell drives into the lane…

It’s been two weeks since Jaden’s ankle injury, and the doctors told him he needed two more days to be fully recovered. But Jaden refuses. He’s playing.
Pre-Game – Jaden’s Decision
In the locker room, Coach Wright stares at Jaden.
Coach Wright: “You sure about this? You’re still hurt.”
Jaden: “If I don’t play, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.”
Darnell: “Then let’s get this ring.”
The team breaks the huddle and steps onto the court.
First Half – A Brutal Battle
The Northside Titans are bigger, stronger, and experienced.
Their center (6’9 beast) dominates inside, scoring 15 points.
Eric Vasquez gets locked up again, struggling to hit shots.
Jaden’s ankle is clearly bothering him, but he fights through.
At halftime, the Warriors trail 48-38.
Coach Wright: “They want it more than you right now. What y’all gonna do about it?”
Jaden tightens his shoelaces. He’s not backing down.

Everyone freezes.

Eric: “YOU DID IT, MOTHERFUCKER!”
Then—
The ball bounces off the rim.
Falls to the floor.
Game over.
The Warriors lose the Finals.
Jaden collapses, clutching his leg.
He tore his hamstring.
Lying on the floor, he bursts into tears.
Post-Game – The Aftermath
The Northside Titans celebrate, but Jaden is devastated.
Coach Wright kneels beside him.
Coach Wright: “No, no… fuck. NO. FUCK. NO.”
The Warriors help Jaden up, but he can’t stop crying.
Even though they lost, Jaden’s heart and determination were undeniable.

Despite losing, the Westside Warriors receive $15,000 for finishing second place.
