Chapter :5 whispers of the Abyss

The Gathering Storm

The moon hung high over Ironclad City, casting silver light upon streets riddled with shadows. Word of Veyrin’s submission had spread like wildfire, and by dawn, the underbelly of the city was shaken.

The warlords, the assassins, the outcasts—they had all heard whispers of a forgotten force, a phantom from history, who had stepped from the abyss to claim dominion.

But with such whispers came unease.

For where there is power, there are those who seek to crush it before it grows too strong.

And he knew it.

Seated within the candlelit halls of The Blood Den, his golden eyes flickered as he observed the room. Around him sat figures of influence, men who had long ruled the black market, mercenary guilds, and crime syndicates of Ironclad.

Some were wary. Others, openly hostile.

But none dared move against him.

Not after what he had done to Veyrin.

“So.” A rough voice broke the silence. “You come out of nowhere, defeat the Red Warlord, and now you expect us to just… bow?”

The speaker was Karn the Butcher, a ruthless arms dealer, his body lined with scars. He leaned forward, his lips curling into a smirk.

“Power is one thing, boy,” Karn continued, fingers tapping against the table. “But fear? Fear alone won’t keep men loyal. You think you can rule Ironclad just because you—”

Crack.

Karn’s words halted as a shadow flickered across the table.

Something unseen moved.

A sharp gasp escaped one of the men at the table as black tendrils coiled around Karn’s wrist, tightening like a vice. The air itself turned heavy, the flickering candlelight dimmed.

And then, just as quickly as it had come—the shadow vanished.

Karn’s wrist trembled. A single dark mark now pulsed on his skin, a brand of something ancient, something beyond mortal comprehension.

The boy leaned forward, his golden eyes glowing faintly.

“I don’t need fear to keep men loyal, Karn,” he murmured.

His lips curled into a small, knowing smirk.

“I just need them to understand.”

Karn swallowed. His bravado was gone.

And the others?

They sat in silent, uneasy obedience.

The Rift Opens

But power did not go unnoticed.

Far beyond Ironclad, in the Frozen Spire Mountains, where the air was thick with magic, something stirred.

The Ancient Seers had long warned of an event—a distortion in the cycle of fate.

A forgotten force awakening.

And tonight, beneath the blackened stars, their prophecies came to fruition.

A tear split open in the sky, jagged like a wound in reality itself. From within, whispers seeped into the wind—low, guttural, inhuman.

The very air crackled, as if the world itself recognized the return of an unwanted presence.

The Celestial Rift had opened.

And from its depths, they came.

The Shadowborn

Creatures of pure abyss, beings born from the void of forgotten time. Wraith-like, monstrous, soulless.

Their forms twisted and shifted like smoke, their eyes burned with violet fire.

But they had one purpose.

They were hunting.

Hunting him.

For the first time in 10,000 years, their king had returned.

And the abyss demanded his soul.

The Warning

Back in Ironclad, the boy stood alone atop the tower of The Blood Den, his cloak billowing in the cold wind.

He had felt it.

The shift. The tear. The summons.

A warning from the forces he had once defied.

A ripple in the fabric of reality that signified his time was running short.

His fingers flexed, feeling the raw elemental energy pulse beneath his skin.

He had spent ten millennia trapped in the abyss, carved his will into the very bones of fate, rewoven his destiny with his own hands.

And now, the abyss dared to claim him again?

A soft chuckle escaped his lips.

“Let them try.”

For if the abyss thought it could drag him back into the void, then it had forgotten who he was.

He was not just a forgotten legend.

He was a Demon King reborn.

And this time—

The world would kneel.
