Chapter: 2
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
The food is getting colder Ola...(Said in soft voice)
She followed him into the dining room, the scent of roasted meat and spiced wine filling the space. The long dining table was set beautifully, candles flickering against the dim lighting. It looked almost… peaceful. Almost like a home.
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
"Eat" (he said simply said soft voice, pouring wine into her glass before filling his own.)
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
(She stared at the plate in front of her, appetite nonexistent. But she knew better than to refuse. Lifting the fork, she took a bite, forcing herself to chew.)
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
Good girl...(he murmured, taking a sip of wine.)
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
(Her grip on the fork tightened. She hated that. The way he spoke to her, like she was some pet who had learned obedience. Like he hadn’t ripped apart her life and then stitched it back together in a way that only suited him.)
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
"I saw you standing at the door"(he continued, leaning back in his chair.) "What were you thinking about?"
She didn’t answer immediately, pushing the food around on her plate. Lying was useless—he always knew when she did.
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
"The first time I saw you," (she admitted, her voice flat.)
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
(His lips curved into a smirk.) "That was a good night."
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
(Her jaw tensed.) "For you, maybe."
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
(His smirk didn’t fade. If anything, it deepened, as if her hatred only entertained him.)
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
"And yet, here you are." (He tilted his head, studying her like she was a puzzle he had long since solved.) "After all these years, still mine."
Her stomach twisted, anger and helplessness clawing at her insides. He was right—she was still here. Not by choice. Never by choice.
But that didn’t mean she had accepted it.
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
"You’re quiet tonight," (he noted, setting his glass down.) "Tell me what’s going on in that little head of yours."
She looked at him then, meeting his gaze without fear. Not because she wasn’t afraid—she had learned long ago that fear was useless with him.
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
"I was just wondering, "if you ever regretted killing my PARENTS...(she said slowly, her voice steady)
Silence stretched between them. His expression didn’t change, but she caught it—the brief flicker of something in his eyes. Not guilt. Not remorse. Something else
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
(Then, he chuckled. Low, dark, utterly unaffected.)
"No."
Of course not.
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
"They were in the way," (he continued, as if discussing an inconvenient obstacle rather than the two people who had once been her whole world.)
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
(Her chest tightened. He said it so easily. So casually. As if her parents’ lives had been nothing)
Isola Sorrentino/FL lead
"You’re a monster," (she whispered.)
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
(His smirk didn’t falter. If anything, it softened)
Adonis Sorrentino/Ml lead
"And you, my love," (he murmured, lifting his glass to her in a mock toast) "are still here with me."
She hated him.
And yet, she understood him better than anyone ever could.
And that—more than anything—was the real nightmare.
