With that, Rachel kissed Liam’s cheek, and they all retired for the night. Vanessa was given the guest room, a beautifully furnished space with a large bed and soft linens. She slipped into the silk nightgown she’d packed, stretched lazily, and collapsed onto the bed with a sigh.
The house was quiet. Peaceful. Almost too peaceful.
Vanessa wasn’t sure how long she had been drifting in and out of sleep when she heard it.
