Eli focused on eating as quickly as possible, hoping to end this awkward lunch with Jaxon before anything weirder happened. But just as he took another bite, he noticed something—his favorite sausages were missing from his plate.
He turned his head slightly, and sure enough, Jaxon was casually plucking them off one by one, chewing as if he had every right to them.
Eli pouted, his hazel eyes narrowing. “Can’t you eat your own food?” he mumbled, half-annoyed, half-embarrassed.
Jaxon chuckled, resting his elbow on the table. “Yours look better,” he said smoothly, then held up the last sausage between his fingers before placing it on his tongue. “What? Do you want it back?” he teased, sticking his tongue out just enough to show it resting there.
Eli’s face burned instantly. His hands shot up, pulling his sleeves over his face to hide his expression. Why is he like this?!
Jaxon smirked at Eli’s reaction but didn’t push further. Before either of them could say another word, a group of boys walked over to their table.
One of them—a tall, bad-boy type with multiple piercings and an aura that screamed trouble—caught Eli’s attention. There was something captivating about him, something intense.
The guy’s sharp gaze swept over Eli, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Yo, Jax,” he said lazily, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “Don’t forget we’ve got a match today.”
Jaxon barely spared him a glance. “Yeah, yeah, I know.”
The guy’s eyes flicked back to Eli, his smirk widening. “And who’s this cutie?”
Eli stiffened, eyes going wide. He wasn’t used to being called things like that—especially by someone who looked like that.
But before he could react, Jaxon’s expression darkened. He shot the guy a sharp glare, voice cold and firm. “None of your business.”
Eli felt the air shift. The casual amusement in Jaxon’s eyes vanished, replaced with something more unreadable. And then—just as quickly—his piercing gaze turned to him.
Eli swallowed hard.
Jaxon’s stare was intense, his jaw slightly clenched. His blue eyes seemed to search for something in Eli’s expression, and for some reason, it made Eli’s heart pound.
The guy with the piercings raised his hands in mock surrender, still grinning. “Relax, man. I'm just asking.” He shot one last playful smile at Eli before walking off.
As soon as he was gone, Jaxon leaned forward, his voice dropping lower. “So… do you like him?”
Eli blinked, startled. “W-what?”
“You were staring at him.”
“I—I wasn’t—” Eli fumbled for words, feeling his face heat up again. “I was just… looking at his piercings! That’s all!”
Jaxon hummed, tilting his head slightly. Then, with a smirk that sent shivers down Eli’s spine, he leaned in even closer and murmured, “So that’s your type?”
And before Eli could even process what was happening, Jaxon stood up and walked away, leaving him sitting there—flustered, confused, and completely unsure of what had just happened.
