For my love 2
Anna
Why do you keep coming back, Sebi?
She asked, her voice softer than usual.
I hesitated, then decided there was no point in lying.
Sebi
Because I can’t stop thinking about you.
She stared at me for a long moment, and I thought I’d made a mistake. But then she smiled—not the sharp, calculating smile I was used to, but something real, something warm.
Anna
You’re persistent. I’ll give you that.
And just like that, the walls she’d built around herself began to crack, piece by piece.
All the memories shattered as I heard a gunfire.
The sharp crack jolted me back to the present. I peeked over the bar just in time to see one of our men drop to the floor. My heart pounded as the chaos around me grew louder. The metallic groan of the ship, the distant shouts, the relentless gunfire—it all blurred into a storm of noise.
I called her out, my voice raw with desperation.
Bullets whizzed past me, one grazing the wall inches from my head. I ducked behind the bar, cursing under my breath.
I’d been here, talking to the bartender, when it all began. The sudden clash of steel, the gunfire, the explosion that shook the entire ship. I shouldn’t have left her alone. She’d been in the conference room, busy with one of her endless online meetings.
And Cairo—Kai was with him. If there’s one thing I could count on, it was Kai’s unwavering loyalty. I’d told him, countless times, If anything ever happens, take Cairo and leave. Wait for no one.
The escape submarine beneath the training room was placed there for this exact scenario. I had made sure of it. Cairo would get out. I knew it. Kai would protect him with his life.
I peeked over the bar, spotting movement at the doorway. Two masked figures. They hadn’t seen me yet. My grip tightened on the pistol in my hand, and I fired three quick shots. One man dropped; the other dove for cover. I used the distraction to slip through the side door, my heart pounding as I moved further into the ship.
The conference room was far from here. Too far.
Another explosion rocked the vessel. One. Two. The third was closer, deep and guttural, shaking the very floor beneath me. My blood turned to ice.
I gasped, panic clawing at my chest. No. No, no, no. That explosion had come from the training room. From underneath.
I froze for a moment, torn. I needed to get to them. But Anna—
Sebi
*clenched my fists* I’m sorry,” *I whispered, forcing the words out. Then, louder* “ANNA!”
Her voice rang out, sharp and annoyed.
Anna
“Don’t shout, idiot!”
Relief surged through me, almost making me lightheaded. Of course, she was fine. She was the queen, after all.
I followed the sound of her voice, weaving through the corridors, taking out another attacker on the way. His speedboat had been attacking from outside, and I didn’t hesitate—three bullets through the window were enough to silence him.
When I finally reached her, my chest tightened again—but this time with pride. There she was, standing tall, her sharp eyes locked on her target as she fired off precise, deadly shots.
She glanced at me as I approached, her lips curving into a wry smile.
I laughed despite the chaos. There was blood on her dress, but I knew instinctively it wasn’t hers. She didn’t have a scratch on her.
she asked, her tone steady despite the gunfire around us.
Sebi
Escape submarine with Kai.
she said, her smile shifting to one of pride. The kind of smile that always made me feel like I’d done something right, even when I doubted myself.
Sebi
“Let’s get out of here!” * I urged, stepping closer to her*
Anna
Yes *reloading her gun with practiced ease.* But not before finishing them.
Sebi
Anna *I started, exasperated* we can find them later. After we’ve escaped.
She turned to me, her eyes blazing with that fierce determination that made her who she was.
Anna
I was attacked on my territory. If I lose, I lose here. But I will not survive without my dignity.
I sighed, knowing there was no convincing her. She was right in her own way. If anyone could hold their ground against an attack like this, it was her.
Sebi
Fine, *I muttered, raising my gun* But if we’re doing this, we’re both getting out alive. No exceptions.
